Material Handler

The Opportunity:

Avantor is looking for a Material Handler to be responsible for the accurate receiving, storing, picking, and shipping of products to meet standards of productivity, quality, safety, and customer service.

This role will be a full-time position based out of our Manati, PR office.

Work Schedule: M-F, 7:30am - 4:30pm

What we’re looking for: 

Education: High School education or GED.Experience: 1-3 years of warehousing experience desired.Certification(s):  OSHA Forklift and HAZMAT certification a plus.Additional Qualifications: Valid driver's license required, and ability to drive vehicles and operate forklifts. Some knowledge in computers (Microsoft office, lotus or similar).Bilingual (English and Spanish).Ability to read/write and do basic math.Ability to sort and assemble materials. Basic safety knowledge.

How you will thrive and create an impact:

Determine method and mode of shipment to customer requirements.Prepare and expedite shipments: Determine labeling requirements including but not limited to: Assembling and packing product containers, preparing and affixing shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information for cartons, skids or other storage devices in an accurate manner including any special labels that are customer required. Prepare all shipping documents in a timely and accurate manner. Post weights and shipping charges, and affix postage. Prepare documents, such as work orders, bills of lading, and shipping orders to route materials. Determine shipping method for materials, using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates. Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, and damages and discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, and record-keeping purposes. Examine contents and compares with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy of incoming or outgoing shipment. Contact carrier representative to make arrangements and to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials. Confer and correspond with establishment representatives to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, and nonconformance to specifications. Use lift truck or hand trucks to convey, move or hoist materials to proper areas. In charge of daily inspections of forklifts. Requisition and store shipping materials and supplies to maintain inventory of stock. Participate in physical inventories process. Participate in departmental or committees meetings. Deliver or route materials to departments. Pack, seal, label, and affix postage to prepare materials for shipping, using work devices such as hand tools, power tools, and postage meter. Process RGA’s and informed Call Center customer credits to be processed thru the system. Process merchandise discrepancies with local Inventory group. Prepare monthly discrepancy report for the Operation Director. In charge of quarantine merchandise schedule and coordinate with Univar for pickup and trash. Audit Third Party Transport Invoices. Interact with associates, customers and vendors. Handle packages; occasionally heavy. Perform other duties as assigned.
