Job Title:  Material Handler
Location: London, ON Plant – On site
Reports to:  Planning Manager

JOB OVERVIEW:

The Forklift Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently operating a forklift to move, load, unload, and store materials within a warehouse or production facility. This role ensures that all tasks are completed in compliance with safety regulations, maintaining an organized and efficient workflow.

KEY RESPOSIBILITIES:

Follow safety protocols and procedures in compliance with Plant and local regulations to ensure a safe working environment.

Operate forklifts (counterbalance, reach truck, or pallet jacks) to move raw materials, finished products, and inventory to designated storage areas or shipping docks.

Assist in inventory control by accurately picking, stacking, and organizing items in the warehouse, ensuring proper labeling and placement.

Loading and Unloading: Safely load and unload trucks, containers, and pallets, ensuring that products are handled and stored correctly to prevent damage.

Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety guidelines and company policies, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe forklift operation. Report any safety hazards, accidents, or incidents to management.

Maintenance Checks: Perform daily inspections of forklifts and report any mechanical issues or needed repairs to the supervisor or maintenance team.

Warehouse Organization: Contribute to maintaining a clean and organized warehouse environment, ensuring that aisles are clear, and materials are safely stored.

Documentation: Maintain accurate records of materials moved, ensuring all transactions are documented in SAP.

Team Collaboration: Work closely with other warehouse staff, supervisors, to ensure efficient material handling and smooth warehouse operations.

Working Conditions: Warehouse environment with exposure to chemicals and industrial equipment. Potential for occasional weekend based on operational needs.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High school diploma or equivalentExperience: Previous experience operating a forklift in a warehouse or Chemical setting is preferred.Certification: Valid forklift  License

SKILLS

Ability to safely operate various types of forklifts (e.g., counterbalance, reach truck, order picker). Strong attention to detail and accuracy in material handling.Good communication and teamwork skills.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining safety standards. Physical requirements: Ability to lift, move, and handle heavy loads.Problem-Solving: Ability to handle unexpected challenges and resolve issues efficiently.Adaptability: Willingness to work in different areas of the warehouse as needed.Working Conditions: Warehouse or manufacturing environment, potentially with exposure to noise, temperature extremes, or heavy machinery. Shift work may be required, including evenings or weekends depending on operational needs.
