Material Handler
Job Title: Material Handler
Job Description

The Material Handler is responsible for the loading and unloading of trucks using a stand-up forklift, packaging and unpackaging of materials, assisting in stocking and pulling parts from storage, and all other functions associated with shipping and receiving. This role requires exemplary service to internal and external customers and may also involve operating a forklift to transport goods and materials around the facility.

ResponsibilitiesUnload incoming shipments using a stand-up forklift.Perform verification of bill of lading and packing list, and unpack incoming shipments.Engage with purchasing and other departments to resolve packing list discrepancies.Conduct inspections and provide damage identification for damaged goods as needed.Accurately record materials received on the appropriate purchase orders and distribute copies to the appropriate personnel.Ensure system (ERP) receipt of materials within 24 hours.Verify the accuracy of outbound shipments.Properly package outbound shipments to ensure that contents arrive undamaged.Handle all document filing and archiving requirements properly.Follow all warehouse processes and maintain good housekeeping in all assigned work areas.Abide by all company safety requirements.Work occasional overtime, including weekends and evenings.Stand for long periods, walk frequently, kneel, twist, bend, and regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, with occasional buddy lifting of more than 100 pounds.Use specific vision abilities such as close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.Multitask and work in a production environment with multiple product changeovers.Willing to learn and cross-train as needed throughout different functions.Communicate effectively and understand the language of logistics.Perform other duties as assigned.Essential SkillsStand-up forklift experience.Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.Good communication and interpersonal skills.Analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.Attention to detail.HS Diploma / GED and/or 0-2 years of relevant experience.Additional Skills & QualificationsPrevious related material handling experience.Familiarity with ERP systems.Why Work Here?

This is a Contract position based out of Chesapeake, Virginia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
