Material Handler
**Job Title: Material Handler** **Job Description** This position is listed as a Dock Worker, but you will be completing Material Handler duties. You will work alongside the area manager to receive incoming materials and place them in inventory. The products are rollers from various manufacturers that need to be refurbished or replaced. You will go through the products with their Purchase Orders, make plans on where they need to go in the facility, and determine what needs to happen to them. This role involves a lot of moving around, bending, and lifting, typically up to 25 lbs, but possibly up to 50 lbs. An overhead crane is available for anything heavier, and you will learn to operate it. This position requires a lot of reading, writing, computer work, and critical thinking and is not repetitive. **Responsibilities** + Receive incoming materials and place them in inventory. + Examine contents and compare them with records, such as orders, packing slips, or receiving logs, to verify accuracy of incoming and outgoing shipments. + Record incoming shipment data, such as measurement of rolls and bearing surfaces, and inspect product condition for problem areas, recording any damage. + Determine where to route incoming materials or build product containers and crates using hand tools such as saws, nail guns, and hammers. + Load and unload trucks safely using forklifts or overhead cranes and confer with delivery and pick-up drivers as needed. + Pack, seal, and prepare products for shipping, including auxiliary parts, properly documented and stored, to return with products to customers. + Contact carrier representatives to make arrangements and issue instructions for shipping and delivery of goods. + Keep work area, tools, and equipment clean, in proper working condition, and organized. + Follow best safety practices and wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times. **Essential Skills** + Sorting, math, and mathematics skills. + Critical thinking and attention to detail. + Ability to read and interpret Purchase Orders and Receivables. + Excellent writing skills. + Strong mechanical ability. + Ability to read and write in English very well. + Computer aptitude (knowledge of Epicor for Inventory and UPS for shipping). **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + GED or high school diploma. + A passion for learning new things. + Motivated and wants the company to be successful. + Not a 'know-it-all' attitude. + Willingness to help and learn in other areas as needed. + Experience in shipping and receiving. **Why Work Here?** We offer a family-like work environment with long-term opportunities. While the machines cause some noise, it is not loud, and you can hear the person next to you just fine. The facility is well-lit and has a state-of-the-art air purifier, so it is not dusty at all. The machine operators and grinders may get dirty hands, but the facility is kept very clean. Personal protective equipment and uniforms are provided, but you must provide your own steel-toe boots. There is no heat or air conditioning; the heat from the machines keeps the facility warm in the winter, and large fans and open shipping doors help during the summer months. The shift is from 6am to 2:30pm, and while overtime is available, it is voluntary. We understand the importance of personal lives and families, and we offer flexibility in scheduling. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of BLAINE, Minnesota. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $23.00/hr.
