Material Handler I

Job Title: Material Handler

 

We are seeking a reliable and efficient Materials Handler to join our team. The Materials Handler will be responsible for receiving, storing, and distributing materials, supplies, and products within the facility. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, capable of managing inventory, and ensure the smooth movement of materials through various departments while adhering to safety and quality standards.

 

Performance Expectations

Receiving Materials: Unload incoming shipments, verify materials against purchase orders, and inspect goods for damage or discrepancies. Storage and Organization: Properly store materials in designated areas, ensuring materials are easily accessible and organized according to company standards. Inventory Management: Maintain accurate inventory records, perform regular stock checks, and update inventory databases as necessary. Material Distribution: Move materials to appropriate departments or workstations as needed, ensuring timely delivery of supplies. Material Handling Equipment: Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently. Order Fulfillment: Prepare materials for shipment, including picking, packing, and labeling products or components. Safety Compliance: Follow all safety guidelines and protocols to prevent workplace injuries. Ensure all equipment is in good working order and report any maintenance issues promptly. Documentation: Complete necessary paperwork, such as shipping forms, inventory logs, and receiving reports. Quality Control: Inspect materials for quality and ensure that only conforming products are stored and shipped. Collaborate: Work closely with team members, supervisors, and other departments to ensure smooth material flow and operations.

 

Credentials

Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Experience: Previous experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or distribution environment is preferred. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to operate material handling equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.). Basic computer skills for data entry and inventory tracking. Attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies in orders and inventory. Ability to lift and move heavy materials (up to 50 lbs or as required by company standards). Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
