Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervise a team of material handlers, including assigning tasks, providing training, and monitoring performance to ensure productivity and adherence to safety standards.
Responsible for planning and organizing team members for daily workload completion.
Coordinate daily activities related to material receiving, storage, and distribution to support production and operational needs.
Facilitate morning huddles to team members - measuring and tracking performance of associates to ensure operations are safe and efficient.
Collaborate with management to identify and drive department metrics and procedures (safety, quality, cost, inventory, productivity, standard work, etc.)
Responsible and accountable for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the individuals in the department.
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Ensure efficient use of labor; utilize appropriate labor management tools, reporting, tracking, etc.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains in material handling operations.
Conduct assigned projects based on business needs related to materials and inventory management.
Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while performing job responsibilities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
High school diploma or GED required.
5+ years of previous experience in shipping/receiving, warehousing, or inventory management, with a recommendation of at least 2+ in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
Proficiency with computer systems and competence in standard office software, including Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of inventory control principles and practices, with the ability to follow standard work and work instructions.
Physical Requirements:
This position requires working in a warehouse environment with exposure to varying temperatures and physical demands.
Ability to become power industrial vehicle certified within 30 days of hire.
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, bend, reach, and crouch.
Ability to remain in a stationary position, often standing for prolonged periods.
Depending on the organization's needs, there may be occasional overtime or holiday/weekend work during peak inventory periods.
