Position Summary
The Material Handler/Water Spider is tasked with keeping workstations fully stocked with materials, thus controlling the continuous flow of productivity.
Essential Functions of the Job
Keep assembly line(s) running by ensuring materials are supplied where & when they are needed, keeping workstations full stocked with materials. Constantly transport inventory from dock to line(s) and delivery to the appropriate location. Monitor shortage boards for late parts & keep in contact with purchasing and receiving to retrieve parts as soon as scheduled to arrive. Respond to Andon lights for shortages. Assist in monitoring long lead time items and off cycle counts. Move no-conforming parts to NCM rack. Assis in lifts of large items (e.g. MD cabinet, CM Power Frames) onto truck/chassis. Light assembly of subs. Remove trash an excess pallets from area. Utilizes forklift or manually unloads materials to/from pallets, racks, and shelves Updates the expedite communications boards throughout the day as business is conducted
Knowledge, Skills and, Abilities (KSA's)
Excellent customer service skills with production operations Proficient with computers demonstrating your ability to work efficiently in the business system; EXCEL skills preferred Working in a collaborative environment while communicating effectively with supervisors and fellow employees Able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) Able to work overtime and/or including weekends, as production schedules dictate
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED Licensed forklift operator or able to become licensed Knowledge of Lean Principles preferred Knowledge of "point of use" inventory, the use of "pull" systems, and NPD processes a plus
Working Conditions
Able to perform work in a non-climate-controlled metal manufacturing production environment Must be able to work in an environment with noise (using 25 decibel earplugs) at 75 decibels Must be able to be on your feet, on concrete, for 90% of shift and walk up to 75% of the time Must be able to climb 13ft by way of 12-inch rung ladders Must be able to lift, push and or pull up to 40lbs and carry that weight 5ft Must be able to bend, stoop and crouch Relocation not available for this positionEOE Minorities/Females/Protected Veterans/Disabled | Drug-Free Workplace
