Material Planner

The Material Planner/Buyer will be responsible for executing the MRP production plan as determined by the Supply Chain Organization per Internal Manufacturing capacities and resources. They will be responsible for the management of excess and obsolete inventory, including any associated reporting and processes. They will validate current purchased-item parameters including but not limited to safety stock, lot-sizing, and order policies for all Internal Manufacturing. They will work with raw-material suppliers to resolve any open order conflicts and supplier capacity constraints. They will lead the effort with any qualifications with raw-material suppliers.

Key Accountabilities

Work safely at all times by consistently following safe work procedures for your position. Promptly report all incidents and safety issues to your supervisor and/or manager.

Actively create, participate and encourage lean activities and continuous improvement initiatives.

Review MRP messages for accuracy and action exceptions appropriately. Purchase raw materials for use in Forest Hill Facility and Dominican Republic (DR) facility to ensure material availability for timely work order execution by issuing purchase orders and work orders for production materials and subcontractor supplies. Responsible for ensuring the flow of product through receiving and into available inventory.

Ensure data integrity of all product information.Validate current purchased-item parameters including but not limited to safety stock, lot-sizing, and order policies for all Internal Manufacturing.

Communicate and collaborate with Suppliers to resolve any material availability issues. Responsible for managing relationships with specific vendors and serving vendors and servicing as the organizations point of contact. Provide support to the organization for problems with vendor products and services.

Maintain appropriate inventory levels and disposition of the slow-moving inventory report for Internal Manufacturing, quarterly.

Required

Bachelors degree in Business or Supply Chain or equivalent experience

3 5 years experience in Planning/Procurement

MRP/ERP system experience in a Supply Chain Manufacturing organization

Strong background in a Lean Manufacturing environment

Strong mathematical and organizational skills

Demonstrated leadership skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Excellent communication and customer service skills

Preferred

APICS Certification or currently pursuing

Knowledge of JD Edwards and JDA business systems
