The Material Planner is responsible for supervising and maintaining the flow of materials in the pull system to meet inventory and customer delivery targets. In this position, you will lead supplier relationships through effective communication of data-driven recommendations and collaboration with the Quality, Production, and Engineering teams.
In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
Collaborate with suppliers to tension lead time and minimum order quantities, to improve supply chain responsiveness and material velocity. Analyze root causes of stock outs and recommend appropriate countermeasures. Walk floor daily to review pull system health and audit pull process field. Raise issues with pull system use to supervisors, unit managers, etc. Review supplier timely delivery performance, and related replenishment parameters. Communicate with suppliers on issues Analyze unreleased work orders to determine root cause of material shortage. Review forecast for demand spikes, update Plan For Every Part (PFEP) in JDE and communicate to suppliers. Support implementation of engineering changes by coordinating with suppliers and manufacturing operations and updating effectivity dates accordingly. Expedite material as vital Analyze raw material and component inventory days on hand (DOH) by value stream, SKU. Summarize inventory opportunities by value stream. Review inventory to identify excess, slow moving, and obsolete items; suggest appropriate actions Collaborate with procurement to manage supplier changes. Communicate with job setters on material availability and work order completion estimates Approve invoices for expensed items and investigate discrepanciesFor This Role, You Will Need:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain or related field or equivalent experience Functional knowledge of Kanban/pull systems Proficient in Excel (pivot tables, vlookups, etc.)WORKING CONDITIONS:
Typical shop floor with possible exposure to dirt, dust, fumes, heat, cold, noise, vibration, oil and water. May be exposed to any number of these elements.
Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:
2+ years’ experience as a Buyer, Planner, Production Scheduler or related profession APICS certification such as CPIM Knowledge of root cause analysis Knowledge and application of LEAN manufacturing techniques Applied experience using ERP systems (JDE preferred)Our Offer to You:
