Material Planner Purchasing & Materials Michigan - USA Posted: 02/04/2025 | Accepting Until: 03/08/2025 | Positions Available: 1 Job Responsibilities Job Responsibilities: + Determining the required materials and generating purchase orders. + Ensuring materials meet specifications, quality standards, and are cost-efficient. + Ensuring the consistent and adequate supply of materials necessary for production. + Coordinating with other departments regarding production goals, timelines, supplier payments, etc. + Tracking production volume and monitoring customer demand patterns and purchasing trends. + Scheduling and overseeing the supply and delivery of materials and products. + Liaising with customers, suppliers, and distributors. + Managing inventory issues, schedule changes, and cancellations. + Preparing cost estimates and performance reports. + Provide input and develop inventory strategies on existing items, new products, and product phase-outs. + Review and assess risk to supply, demand variability and identify opportunities to manage and mitigate risk. + Create, monitor, and provide information to the Materials Manager to support S&OP metrics, and key performance indicators. + Translate customer orders and forecasted requirements into the manufacturing production schedule. + Keep Materials Manager informed of fluctuations in customer demands that require adjustments, review and ensure schedules are maintained and desired inventory levels are met. + Monitor changes in customer requirements on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to ensure production schedules and plans are on target. + Optimize system planning parameters to drive accurate production requirements. (routing times, lot sizing, rounding values, etc.) + Perform and publish root cause analyses on key metrics including Customer Service Level, Actual vs. Scheduled Production, and Forecast Accuracy. + Review all order change requests including additions, deletions, and ship date movement to determine appropriate action(s). + Consult with appropriate internal departments to determine viability of change requests, keep Materials Manager informed if additional cost is an impact of changes. + Help monitor inventory levels in both WIP and FG ensuring they remain within pre-determined levels. + Present daily and weekly summary of key information to Materials Manager. Job Requirements Job Requirements + Knowledge of manufacturing processes and supply chain management + Familiarity order management, materials management, logistics, production planning and detailed scheduling + Experience working with ERP systems, SAP a plus + Must have experience in negotiating and reducing costs + Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills + Ability to present and communicate at all levels of the Company + Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint); proficient experience using internal SAP system preferred + Strong attention to detail + Strong organizational and time management skills + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills + Dependable and reliable Education + High school diploma/GED required + Degree in business, logistics, inventory management, or a related field preferred + 5+ years of experience in material planning, inventory management, purchasing, or a related position Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding, follow detailed and involved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a several varying situations.
