Material Planner

Introduction to role:

Join our dynamic Sourcing & Supply team within UK Operations, where we manage the material flow through the factory, enabling our packaging and processing areas to produce stock for customer orders to over 100 countries globally.

As a Material Planner, you will be part of the Data and Materials Planning Team at Macclesfield, managing Material Planning activities to support the execution of Manufacturing plans. You will collaborate with various teams including Material Change Planners, Production Planners, Material Planning Lead, Procurement, Pack Change Team, and Warehouse to ensure robust and efficient Material Management activities that meet business needs while avoiding unnecessary write-offs.

This role demands a strong customer focus to deliver excellent service, optimal inventory, and lead times based on agreed goals/KPIs. Additionally, you will support the Material Planning Manager in developing best-in-class processes for all aspects of materials management and work cross-functionally with Local and Global Procurement, ESM, Finance Teams, Suppliers, and Manufacturing Teams.

Accountabilities

- Work with Materials Change Planners, ESM, Procurement, and the Manufacturing PETs to ensure coordination of materials demand and supply.

- Apply insight into system-generated forecasts.

- Provide oversight of the supply of direct material in alignment with production demand and agreed stock levels, ensuring stock levels are in line with budget.

- Build and develop effective relationships with the Manufacturing PETs, UK Operations Sourcing and Supply Teams, and Supplier Managers/suppliers in a given portfolio.

- Share and follow up forecasts, organize/participate in supplier meetings, and work with Operations Procurement & ESM to secure good supplier relations.

- Lead resolution of materials complaints within the remit of UK Operations.

- Act as the local process owner for assigned materials processes, taking responsibility for business process management in line with global BPM standards.

- Apply LEAN ways of working, including leading cross-team problem-solving for materials issue resolution and sustained improvements, aligning to SQSCP.

- Train and coach others in areas of expertise, sharing knowledge and best practices.

- Lead KPI monitoring for materials supply performance.

Essential Skills/Experience

- Strong Systems literacy and ability to learn new systems

- Strong influencing skills across all levels of the organisation

- High level of customer focus

- Experience of Business Process Management

Desirable Skills/Experience

- Experience in Planning Environment

- Strong inventory management knowledge

- Experience of Delivering Change

- Understanding of Pharmaceutical GMP principles an advantage

- Knowledge of Macclesfield’s packing lines and current locations would be desirable but not essential

- In-depth working knowledge of SAP

- LEAN capability including experience of business process management
