**About this role**
The Materials Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the materials management function within the organization, ensuring the efficient and effective flow of materials to support production operations. This role involves coordinating with suppliers, managing inventory levels, and supervising a team of materials handlers to achieve operational goals.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Inventory Management:
+ Monitor and maintain optimal inventory levels to support production schedules.
+ Conduct regular inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies.
+ Implement inventory control procedures to minimize waste and obsolescence.
+ Supplier Coordination:
+ Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials.
+ Negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers to achieve cost savings.
+ Coordinate with suppliers to resolve any issues related to quality, delivery, or availability of materials.
+ Team Supervision:
+ Supervise and mentor a team of materials handlers, providing guidance and training as needed.
+ Schedule and assign tasks to team members to ensure efficient workflow.
+ Monitor team performance and provide feedback to ensure continuous improvement.
+ Material Handling:
+ Oversee the receiving, storage, and distribution of materials within the facility.
+ Ensure that materials are handled safely and in compliance with company policies and regulations.
+ Maintain accurate records of material transactions and inventory levels.
+ Process Improvement:
+ Identify opportunities for process improvements in materials management and implement best practices.
+ Collaborate with other departments to streamline material flow and reduce lead times.
+ Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
**Required Qualifications:**
+ High School Diploma/GED with 5+ years of experience leading teams
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor's Degree with 3+ years of experience in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration is preferred.
+ Understands basic management approaches such as work scheduling, prioritizing, coaching and process execution is preferred.
+ Proven experience in materials management or a similar role.
+ Strong knowledge of inventory control principles and supply chain management.
+ Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
+ Ability to lead and motivate a team.
+ Proficiency in using inventory management software and MS Office applications.
+ Strong communication and negotiation skills.
+ This position may require occasional lifting and moving of materials.
+ The role typically involves working in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
