JOB OVERVIEW
Provide the product development and design teams with unique and interesting materials and components that allow them to create high quality performance and life style footwear products for the Travis Mathew consumers. This support will cover all seasonal projects initiated by the product creation teams at the Travis Mathew WHQ as well as innovation or longer-term projects that will occasionally come into scope. The Footwear materials & component developer will adhere to all calendar dates in order to give the product teams the proper time to adopt, sample and test. Seasonal goals will be established in support of the overall marketing themes, sample execution, pricing targets, quality requirements, lead times and business goals for Travis Mathew.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop & approve local Vietnam materials for use from the initial tech pack stage through to the production phase.
Maintain a materials swatch book library within the CGV office and also provide the Travis Mathew HQ development team with seasonal swatch books that aligns with the start of the design process..
Assess the capabilities of Vietnam material & component suppliers and provide regular proposals to the Travis Mathew HQ product teams.
Manage the Tier 2 suppliers within Vietnam so that expectations, costing, quality, capacity and timelines meet the TM product needs.
Be the super user for Centric to ensure that materials, components, compounds and colors are accurately listed & organized within this PLM system.
Convey all Tier 2 supplier concerns to the key stakeholders at TM WHQ for each round and follow up on resolutions so that each round can be executed as well as possible.
Collaborate closely with the Tier 1 so that TM can gain access to more Vietnam material suppliers.
Adhere to the key material & component calendar dates so that the footwear projects can proceed without any delays.
Collaborate with the Tie1 partner and create a material matrix for key materials used on shoes with different retail prices.
Collaborate with the Tier 2 suppliers on materials and components that offer comfort in all Travis Mathew shoes.
Collaborate with Tier 1 and WHQ to select materials and components that ensure the target price and quality are in balance.
Collaborate with local CGV materials lab testing team and insure that testing standards are established and maintained.
Collaborate with Tier 1 to select materials and components that allow for normal production lead times of 90 days or less.
During development stage, help to resolve any key issues with materials & components so that the Tier 1 is positioned well to deliver excellent product on time.
Strive for product and process excellence.
Provided the TM HQ product teams with innovative materials and components that allow them solve consumer needs for subsequent seasons or longer-term projects.
Participate in training opportunities that will enhance pertinent capabilities and job skills.
Maintain integrity in all business relationships and represent Top Golf Callaway brands in a professional manner.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
A minimum of 5 years of experience in footwear product development or footwear materials development.
Good understanding of pattern efficiency, bottom compounds and construction best practices.
Good technical knowledge about color standards, materials, components and compounds.
Good understanding of material and component testing standards.
Ability to collaborate and work well with a variety of stakeholders.
Organized and diligent work habits.
Competent with both spoken and written English.
Ability to problem solve and communicate all issues to cross functional departments.
Proficient with Microsoft Office.
Proficient in PLM systems
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
College degree
Diploma from Trade or Textile school
