Description:Come join our Supply Chain team at Saint Francis Hospital, a member of Trinity Health Of New England!

This position is based in the OR at the CT Joint Replacement Institute (CJRI)

Position Purpose

Assures seamless day to day operations for adequate supply/implant levels, equipment in good working condition and surgeons' specialized requests. The Materials Coordinator communicates any interruption in supply and assures appropriate substitute is acceptable and ready for use.   Works with CJRI Medical Director and Executive Director to identify and launch cost saving opportunities.  Works with vendors to obtain capital and operational proposals and submits these and all supply charges in a timely manner.

What you will do

Manage supply chain processes with CJRI to ensure optimal service standards are met

Maintain adequate supply levels via communication with vendors, managing purchasing and inventory, and overseeing the order process for implants and supplies

Request proposals from various manufacturers and distributors for supplies and equipment

Liaise with department safety and training officers to remain abreast of departmental issues and training opportunities

Monitor performance of the materials management system by reviewing reports of purchasing, warehousing, and inventory activity, while recommending corrective action to ensure cost effective materials management

Coordinate productive hours, space, equipment and expense as they related to materials department

Support the Orthopedic Service Line by working with the leaders in the Spine OR, CJRI Pre-PACU and CJRI Inpatient area to assure their supply needs are met ​

Minimum Qualifications

Certified Surgical Technician, Sterile Processing Technician, Operating Room (OR) Nurse (Bachelor’s prepared) or other candidate with experience in materials management in an OR setting (orthopedic OR preferred)

Minimum 3 years OR experience preferably in Orthopedics; one year in Materials Management and inventory control preferred

Knowledge of cost effective procurement methods, efficient storage operations, inventory management involving medical supplies, durable medical equipment, and other commodities normally used in a large hospital
