An exciting opportunity has arisen for a materials engineer to join the Integrated programme team within the Design Engineering function, based in Bristol.

As a materials engineer, you will be responsible for providing knowledge and expertise to execute tasks on the development of materials, processes, models and analysis methods, the application of materials to the design, test, manufacture, and service operation of systems, the approval, validation and control of raw materials and / or component manufacturing processes, and the execution of failure or defect investigations. For providing knowledge, expertise and guidance in chemistry and/or corrosion disciplines deployed in the support of the full product life-cycle.

What you will be doing:
In this role, you will be accountable for:
Resolving problems through evaluative judgements. Analysing factual information from multiple sources, interpreting results and identifying effective solutions by applying technical knowledge, expertise and engineering judgement. Defined technical packages of work providing leadership and delivery against programme milestones within agreed costs, timescales and quality requirements. Being a point of contact within Materials Engineering and to share subject matter knowledge across the function. This may include providing advisory services to designated customers, influencing their peer group, representing senior departmental staff and acting as advisor / coach on matters where they are technically authoritative. Understanding company business objectives and ensuring that the work they do supports this; Acting in accordance with both the company values and those associated with being a professional engineer. Actively promoting encouraging and supporting the identification and implementation of continuous improvement both within and outside their immediate sphere and prompting action across the wider team.

Bachelor's degree, Master's or PhD in Engineering or equivalent technical capability based on practical knowledge and experience. Technical experience relevant to the Engineering discipline. An ability to apply logical, analytical and innovative thinking to a range of technical problems. Knowledge and experience of product integrity / liability and certification frameworks. Membership in a relevant professional body appropriate to the region. In the UK - attained / working towards Chartered status is preferred.*To work for Rolls-Royce you need to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance.
