Summary THIS IS A NORTH DAKOTA NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This ND National Guard position is for a MATERIALS EXAMINER & IDENTIFIER, Position Description Number D1908000 and is part of the ND USPFO, National Guard. Responsibilities As a Materials Examiner and Identifier, the purpose of this position is to identify, examine and classify materiel and equipment and make final determinations on acceptance and disposition of standardized and complex equipment and materiel using shipping documents, contracts, catalogs, drawings, and related documents. Identifies, receives, sorts, counts, classifies and handles hazardous materials in the USPFO storage areas. Insures the safe receipt, storage and movement of hazardous and toxic materials and substances such as ammunition, explosives, chemicals, or radioactive materials in accordance with facility and regulatory requirements. Responsible to identify, collect, process and consolidate hazardous waste in preparation for disposal. Receives or rejects materiel, equipment, including non-standard equipment, and complex assemblies for the facility based on their knowledge of products, equipment, and procedures as well as having the ability to determine subtle and inconspicuous defects. Determines acceptance, serviceability and distribution requirements for perishable, classified, precious metals, textiles, clothing, complex electronic/mechanical equipment, assemblies and components. Performs a full range of warehousing activities to include receiving, inspecting for defects, storing, selecting and shipping general or specialized bulk and bin materials and equipment. Assists with the development of facility regulations, and operating instructions that relate to hazardous materials management and HAZMAT safety procedures. Performs duties to provide storage and distribution, cataloging or supply identification systems, property utilization, or any other related supply activities including those associated with automated or manual supply accounting systems. Serves as the Precious Metals Recovery Program (PRMP) monitor. Develops, establishes and maintains work center training programs. MILITARY GRADES: Enlisted QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have experience or training which demonstrates the ability to distinguish between closely related or similar items, ability to follow procedures, ability to sort materials by type, and skill in the use of hand tools. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have 12 months experience or training: 1) identifying and sorting a variety of complex materials and equipment; 2) experience receiving materials and equipment, recording, and placing items in proper storage areas; 3) experience preparing all items for shipment using appropriate agency instructions; and 4) experience using information contained in online catalog and supply systems. You must also possess the experience, training or education to support your claim for the competency statements listed within the assessment questionnaire. Education To receive credit for education, you must provide supporting documentation of proof that you meet the education requirements for this position.
