About the Position: The Anniston Army Depot is located in Anniston, Alabama in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountain chain halfway between Atlanta, GA and Birmingham, AL just off Interstate 20. The Depot is the largest employer in Calhoun County with approximately 4000 employees. Responsibilities Visually inspects the condition of materials prior to routing according to procedures. Prepare transfer order for reclamation items according to regulations. Route parts which need no processing directly to assembly line for reassembling. Monitor Logistics Modernization Program for parts availability. Provides information to supervisor on status of projects. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Materials Expediter Leader without more than normal supervision. Serve as a working leader of three (3) or more employees in accomplishing trades and labor work. I reroute parts to relieve overloaded work areas in order to improve processing time. I route parts which require no additional assembly directly to the assembly line. I use the Logistic Modernization Program (LMP) for time and attendance reporting, production schedules, expenditures reports, parts availability, reporting non-conforming or damaged parts and reporting shop equipment failures - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Other Than Blueprint Reading) Ability to Lead or Supervise Dexterity and Safety Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (Theoretical, Precise, Artistic) Work Practices (Including Keeping Things Neat, Clean, and in Order) Physical Effort: Incumbent is required to lift items weighing up to 40 pounds on a regular basis and occasionally lifts items weighing up to 60 pounds. Material handling devices and assistance from other workers are available for handling heavier items. Incumbent is constantly kneeling, crouching, bending, stooping and walking. Working Conditions: Work is usually performed in production shops that are moderately lighted and ventilated. Incumbent is exposed to outside conditions for short periods of time. Incumbent is exposed to shop noises, dirt, fumes and vibrations, and the possibility of injury associated with handling equipment. Insures that hazardous materials/waste within work area are handled/processed within operating guidelines. Guidance for the proper handling of hazardous materials/waste is obtained through formal training efforts and specific guidance issued by the supervisor. Insures that storage drums, and other containers housing hazardous materials/waste are properly labeled and secured at all times. Reports any deficiencies to the supervisor. Properly disposes of hazardous materials/waste used/generated at work site. Immediately notifies supervisor of any accident or spill and initiates response actions as directed by supervisor. Since exposure to hazardous materials/waste is possible, wears protective clothing and equipment (e.g., rubber boots, coveralls, goggles, aprons, gloves, respirator, etc.) as situations warrant. Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One-year probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. This is a(n) #13 Supply Management Career Field position. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement. Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest.
