Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a MATERIALS HANDLER, Position Description Number D0903000 and is part of the HI USPFO, National Guard. LOCATION: United States Property and Fiscal Office - CIF, Hawaii Army National Guard, Kapolei, Hawaii Responsibilities SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The purpose of this position is to oversee one or more product lines, a segment of a large warehouse, or serve as the senior employee in a smaller warehouse or supply facility. Performs a full range of warehousing activities to include receiving, storing, selecting and shipping bulk and bin materials and equipment. Coordinates incoming and outgoing shipments and placement of materials within docking area. Prepares inventory and production reports, screens and identifies shipping and receiving documents for discrepancies, and directs shipments to shipping or storage areas. Identifies, examines, classifies, accepts and disposes of a wide variety of materials and property including electronic equipment, aircraft and automotive components and assemblies. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications If your resume does not include a narrative description of how you meet the GENERAL, SPECIALIZED experiences, and OTHER requirements, you may lose consideration for this position. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the ability to compare item identification against receiving reports and issue request forms; skill in using hand trucks, dollies, and other equipment to move stock; ability to use hammers, pliers, and other hand tools; and to follow oral and written instructions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 9 months of experience or training in receiving, packaging, and preparation for shipment. Experience in compiling reports, overall warehouse planning, documentation requirements, and accepted warehousing methods, procedures, and techniques. Experience in setting up and rotating storage locations considering factors such as life expectancy, available space, product turnover, etc. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Incumbent often stands on hard surfaces for extended periods of time. Work involves bending, stooping, and working in tiring and sometimes uncomfortable positions. May lift and carry items that weigh up to 70 lbs. The heavier items are moved with material handling equipment, or with assistance from other workers. WORKING CONDITIONS: Works inside or outside in areas that may be hot, damp, cold, drafty, or poorly lighted. Incumbent is regularly exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, abrasions, falls, and injury from falling stock or mechanized conveyor systems. May be exposed to dust, dirt, grease, and solvents and to high noise levels in working areas, the incumbent may be subject to exposure from radiation, toxins, explosive hazards, or chemical fumes. Work may require wearing protective clothing such as hard hats, steel-toed shoes, rubber gloves, masks, and rubber aprons. MILITARY TECHNICIAN COMPATIBILITY POSITION: Prior to placement in this position, the selected applicant must be assigned to an appropriate military position and must meet the definition of a dual status technician in accordance with 32 U S C 709. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license. For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret), the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT & NOTES: 1. Situations of inversion of military rank are not permitted, i.e., a military technician may not be militarily senior to his or her full-time supervisor. b. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses will be granted only after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Hawaii National Guard. c. Placement is contingent upon successful completion of a medical examination or review/approval of a physical examination taken within six months. n. Selectee may be scheduled for formal training at the Professional Education Center (PEC) within the first six months of employment. Unless there are extenuating circumstances, failure to complete National Guard Bureau prescribed courses at PEC within the first year of employment, may be cause for reassignment to other full-time positions or termination of employment.
