About the Position: This position is with the U.S Army Sustainment Command, 404TH Army Field Support Brigade, Logistics Readiness Center, located in JBLM, WA. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Materials Handler (Fork Lift Operator/Motor Vehicle Operator) without more than normal supervision. Perform common Materials Handler duties, including managing warehousing operations, inspecting aircraft parts, processing shipments, conducting inventories, and operating forklifts and motor vehicles. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. To meet the basic eligibility, you must receive at least two points on the screen-out element indicated above and must have an average of two points on all the job elements listed below. Ability to Do the Work of the Position without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Other Than Blueprint Reading) Dexterity and Safety Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (Theoretical, Precise, Artistic) Work Practices (Including Keeping Things Neat, Clean, and in Order) Physical Effort: Employee works on hard surfaces standing, stooping, and bending which makes the work tiring and uncomfortable. Frequently, lifts and carries items that weigh up to 40 pounds and occasionally, items that weigh over 70 pounds with assistance. Moderate physical effort is used in operating hand and foot controls while driving, turning, starting and stopping the forklift truck and raising, lowering and tilting the loads being moved. Working Conditions: Warehousing work is done inside and outside. Work inside may be in areas that are hot, cold, damp, drafty or poorly lighted. Incumbent may work in bad weather in such outside areas as open docks and storage yards. The work may be dirty, dusty and greasy. Incumbent is frequently exposed to cuts, scrapes, bruises, and broken bones which may result from shifting loads, toppling stacks, forklift trucks overturning, falling objects and falls from ladders. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. This is a Logistics Career Field position.
