Summary Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) is looking for the best and brightest to join our Team! Responsibilities Leads NA-5 Materials Handlers in accomplishment of work. Assists in conducting training of employees under his/her cognizance in accordance with the MCCS training schedule, training employees in their job responsibilities as contained in individual job descriptions. Assigns tasks and work schedules as directed and reports on employee performance and results of assignments. Assists in the daily administrative work of the activity to include the preparation and submission of reports and other accountable documentation processed in relation to the distribution of merchandise to various activities. Demonstrates work methods and provides work-related guidance. Counts types and quantities of merchandise items during inventory and recounts and/or searches storage locations to determine the basis for over, short or misplaced items. Interprets all types of documents involved in receiving and distribution. Performs Materials Handler responsibilities. Responsible for the completion of assignments and instruction on the methods, procedures or a technique to use to insure workload is properly completed. Complies with fire, safety, sanitation, security and other applicable rules, regulations or orders. Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Acknowledges customers, smiles and makes eye contact. Asks questions to determine, verify and solve problems. Checks for satisfaction on the quality of goods and services. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Uses required safety equipment, and observes safe work procedures. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment. Performs other related duties as required. Requirements Conditions of Employment See Duties and Qualifications EVALUATIONS: Qualifications SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Skill in all phases of warehousing operations, accepted warehousing methods, procedures, and techniques of material handling. Must be familiar with and have a complete understanding of MCCS policies, orders and regulations. Must be able to work independently. Must be able to accomplish arithmetic computations and have the ability to read and write. Must have the ability to interpret all types of documents involved in warehouse storage and distributions. Skill to process and independently complete shipping and receiving documents to insure correctness of quantities, identification criteria, and labeling. Knowledge to operate mechanized equipment including utility vehicles, forklifts, mobile stock selectors, and automated equipment such as, optical readers, scanners and computer keyboards. Ability to acquire a valid government vehicle operator¿s license for trucks with gross vehicle weight of up to 10,000 pounds. RESPONSIBILITY: Work involves a variety of different operations to complete assignments. Work requires a high degree of accuracy in order to keep an even flow of merchandise distributed. Assignments involve responsibility in receiving, distribution and storage operations. Instruct employees on proper procedure for merchandise and staging in proper location. Unresolved problems arising in assignments are referred to immediate supervisor. Work is done with considerable independence from supervisory control. Work assignments are completed according to published directives and verbal guidance. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Works on hard surfaces and in work areas that require standing, stooping, bending and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Lifts and carries objects up to 45 lbs independently and objects over 45 lbs with assistance. May be required to work at a rapid pace for long periods. Normal vision and hearing are required with or without corrective devices. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work may be performed inside or outside in areas that may be hot, damp, cold, drafty, or poorly lighted. May work in varied weather on open decks. Work is often dirty, dusty and greasy. Exposed to possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, abrasions, falls, minor injury from falling stock, mechanical conveyor systems or other materials handling equipment. Work may require protective clothing.
