Materials Management Specialist – CN Service – Winnipeg (CN TRANSCONA LRC Shop)LOCATION: WINNIPEG, Manitoba, CanadaThe Material Management Specialist will ensure processes are identified, developed and executed in a manner that will meet the operational goals. The candidate must be a self-starter with a proven record of being a change agent since you will be responsible for work that is less defined in scope. You will need utilize situational leadership abilities and experience to execute business objectives that make a positive impact on our short-term and long-term business goals. You will assist technical, reliability and other materials teams on all matters related to the material operation including customer interaction as it relates to LHFM commitments and OTC sales.In addition, you will:Support all aspects of warehousing and material management with primary focus at Transcona OH shop and secondary at Symington shop including fulfillment, transactional quality, inventory accuracy, productivity, and logisticsSupport and be the key contact for all aspects of warehouse operations, including site services, and implementing necessary upgradesEnsure operational excellence through all phases of material movement and storageResponsible for inventory management, including preparing for Physical Inventory AuditsLead a diverse and remote team of materials specialists focused on the fulfillment of material for both service contracts and parts salesExecute all materials fulfillment metrics, including LHFM, In-Transits, Due From, Cycle Counts, & Shopping’s.Meet customer satisfaction rating through advanced planning and create ability to expedite shipments as required to meet deadlinesLead efforts to update and streamline stand work practicesManage expediting of shipments and delivery of vendor repair material in order to meet service center schedulesMaintain the highest level of integrity and ethics in all dealings with internal customers and outside suppliersTravel required up to 25% of the timeMust be willing to work flex schedule, weekends, off-shifts, holidays, and OTManage weekly schedule of Material SpecialistsManage cross training for Material’s teamEnsure the onboarding of new employees and support trainingActively involved with the results of changes to the inventory plan/forecast, including part number supersedure, relabeling shelves, etc.Actively involved in prevention of excess inventory and stock outs while maintaining inventory stocking levels.Work with all levels of personnel (hourly, supervisory, and general foreperson) in resolving issues, tracking material availability, and advising on material usage.Responsible for movement of material to and from warehouse.Responsible for assisting Operations Team with material requesting and Service Sheet management.Assist shop craft with RX/Tech related issues. Update work plans, reviewing defects, fault logs and component changeout information.Assist other locations in other parts of Winnipeg and other sites in Manitoba where the customer brings locomotives for servicing and repairs.Qualifications/RequirementsBachelor’s Degree from an accredited College or University (or High School Diploma/GED with a minimum 4 years of experience in a materials management or operations position)Ability and willingness to lift approximately 35 lbs. regularly.Ability and willingness to work in a fluid 24/7 shop environment, including any shift and all-weather conditionsMust possess sufficient skills to perform basic mathematical calculationsMust have knowledge of traffic codes and regulationsMust have ability to work in heavy shop environmentStrong computer skillsPossess good communication skillsDesired Characteristics: Strong analytical and influencing skillsProven project management skills with the ability to work across functional boundaries and all levels of managementProblem-solving skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneouslyAbility to effectively communicate with production, engineering, customer service, sales, and external customersStrong oral and written communication skillsStrong interpersonal and leadership skillsExperience in the Railroad IndustryExperience operating motorized industrial vehicle and equipmentExperienced in MS Office Suite: Outlook, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Teams.Experience in Oracle/SAP or other inventory control systemsUnderstanding of DOT/TDG Shipping Course Certification
