Overview
Under direction, of the Manager, Material Management is responsible for management of automated inventory management system; preparation and processing of user initiated requests for material, special campaigns, inventory build-up of new parts; development of reorder points for inventory replenishment based upon usage patterns, economic order quantity methods, time phased deliveries; maintenance of inventory to ensure adequate levels, designating delivery location, expediting stock outages, redeployment of existing stock; oversees and coordinates the computerized systems that support the macro-level logistics planning for the Authority’s material needs; responsible for statistical studies of the dollar-value of inventory, analysis of potentially obsolete items, examinations of system-wide stockage and order quantity policies.
Responsibilities
Supervise the assignment of and review the work of subordinates in the preparation and management of requests for materials based upon user requirements, in order to maintain adequate inventory levels to supply normal usage and to supply extraordinary requirements, e.g. special campaigns, the build-up of a new parts inventory; the maintenance of the stock item description file for the Commodity Management System; the analysis of usage history, including the dollar value of inventory, in order to establish economic reordering quantities and/or obsolescence of existing stock. Consolidating large data sets from various systems on a common platform, developing standardized reporting and streamlined analytics. Train subordinate employees in the policies and procedures of the Department and disciplines necessary to determine material needs.
Education and Experience
+ A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college with a major in economics, business administration, public administration, or a related field and four years of progressively responsible experience in the fields of procurement and database organization; or
+ A satisfactory equivalent of training and experience.
Note: Master’s degree can substitute for one year’s experience as described herein.
