The Company and the Role:

Heidelberg Materials is seeking a Materials Trainee based in Edmonton & Villeneuve AB. The Materials Trainee will report to both the Aggregate and Ready Mix Area Manager. This Program provides you the opportunity of hands-on experience in operations across the region while learning all aspects of our business. This is achieved through the delivery of a development program combined with critical experiences and projects that are important to our business.

Key Targets of the Role
The successful candidate will be immersed in a 24-month program designed to provide exposure, training, and hands-on experience in all aspects of the aggregates and concrete business including production, sales, maintenance, supervision, quality control and logistics.

Participate fully and actively in all assigned development activitiesApply knowledge and work collaboratively on various team projects related to training and developmentSupport the aggregate and concrete division in achieving production goals through partnering with experienced professionals and managers in different departments (safety, operations, human resources, environment, maintenance, quality control)Participate in daily and weekly production and maintenance meetingsLearn basic supervisory skills by working side by side with experienced supervisorsResponsible for reporting and tracking key performance indicators

Essential Experience and Skills

Post-secondary education with solid academic achievementPost-secondary education in Mining, Geology, Engineering, or similar disciplines may be considered Must have a strong desire to work in a mining and Ready-mix manufacturing environmentStrong communication skills and attention to detailAbility to be a self-starter and take initiativeAbility to adapt to change and respond well under pressureSolid interpersonal and leadership skillsAbility and desire to work in a fast-paced environmentIdeal candidate will have a strong desire to move into progressively more responsible roles and can relocate if required

Preferred Experience and Skills

Prior Ready Mix or mining experience is a plus

Work Environment

Role operates primarily a manufacturing environment where the conditions include moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, humidity, and elevated noise levels.
