Materials Manager

The Materials Manager is responsible for managing the flow of material from the supply base and third-party vendors through to production to meet customer demand in a way that is consistent with lean pull replenishment principles and that meets or exceeds our customer expectations reports directly to the Operations Manager

 

Responsibilities:

Manage Buyers, Material Handlers and Inspectors in the day-to-day process of materials planning as well as the scheduling of production processes to meet customer demand. Oversees activity of the site related to the purchase of material, inventory accuracy and control. Acts as the liaison in connecting the sales forecast, factory scheduling and supply chain planning in a coordinated fashion that delivers optimal customer support while improving our working capital position. Provides leadership and support in the use of the Fortive Materials System with the goal of driving continuous improvement in On-time delivery and Inventory turns. Will be required to support the procurement of materials as required to support the team Develops, implements and maintains policy related to buying, scheduling and inventory control.  Build bench strength within the materials organization and overall site through effective talent development and performance management.

Qualifications

Minimum 6 years of experience in demand management, supply chain management, commodity management, manufacturing planning, materials planning, production planning or supply chain planning and execution. At least 2 years of people leadership experience with a track record of getting results through others. A relatable leader who can inspire a team and garner followership in the process. Direct experience working in such roles as materials buyer/planner, production scheduler, supply chain analyst, logistics analyst and commodity manager. Extensive efficiency in ERP/MRP, Microsoft Suite Applications and business intelligence applications. Oracle applications preferred Must be proficient in lean manufacturing techniques with practical experience implementing and utilizing such systems. Experience using as well as implementing pull replenishment systems in a complimentary fashion with existing ERP systems. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written. Persistent and resourceful in working through obstacles in order to reach the goal. Ability to influence and drive alignment at multiple levels of organization  Bachelors degree or equivalent experience required.  A degree in supply chain management or industrial engineering desirable but not required
