Cleaver Brooks is looking for a Materials Manager to join our team in Lincoln, NE. The Materials Manager is responsible for the overall management, planning and control and movement of materials in and out of the plant, using a comprehensive integrated (ERP) business system that controls all logistics. Responsible for planning, directing and controlling activities related to Material Control, Production Planning, Shipping and Purchasing. Should develop and implement Policies and Procedures for efficient operation of these areas. Works with other department mangers to resolve problems affecting production schedules and delivery commitments. Manage plant manufacturing volume of $50 million or larger and associated direct material inventories.

Essential functions:
Direct management of four functional areas of the Materials Department: Production Planning, Material Control, Shipping and Purchasing. Works with the Master Scheduler to develop the Master Production Schedule based on the Production Plan and within the constraints of the Manufacturing capacities, available manpower, delivery dates, etc. Directs Material Planning in procuring required material informing Purchasing of needs and ensuring Engineering Changes are incorporated in plans. Meets regularly with company management to discuss and resolve problems involving Production Scheduling, Engineering, Manufacturing, Shipping, Employee Relations, etc. Communicates schedule fulfillment, delays, and changes on a timely basis. Reviews schedules to ensure they coincide with supplying work centers and customer demands. Must possess leadership capability – ability to understand the motives and objectives of the Plant. Must possess communication/interpersonal skills to effectively carry out responsibilities and to develop and motivate others. Must possess and apply intellect, judgment, and management skills to achieve required results. Must possess creativity/adaptability to successfully manage Department to effectively address changing business conditions and to achieve objectives. Serves as a member of the Plant's Operating Management Team; contributes through exercise of functional expertise, counsel, experience, etc., toward the Plant meeting its current and long range business strategies and plans. Must provide effective management of subordinates to achieve desired results. Attributes necessary to meet this need may include communications, motivation, team building, employee involvement, diplomacy, delegating, etc. skills as well as confidence and enthusiasm. Position requires regular exercise of decision making, problem solving, and policy or procedure interpretation skills. Ability to handle responsibilities with effective interpersonal skills and to effectively interface with others inside and outside the Company is required. Ensures that divisional and Company standard procedures are followed in connection with purchases of materials and services. Coordinates functions of purchasing, production control, manufacturing engineering, transportation, aftermarket and inventory control. Maintains liaison among plants, suppliers, and warehouse stores to provide efficient customer delivery service. Devises methods and policies ensuring most efficient and economical movement of all materials in and out of plants. Analyzes and evaluates inventory and delivery problems and recommends solutions. Plans and organizes activities of the material control department to best utilize personnel to achieve short and long range goals. Provides training for departmental personnel. Participates in preparations of annual forecasts with the sales divisions. Will participate in capital purchases and long term contract negotiations. Must have ability to travel - generally by air and utilization of a rental car - regularly, in conducting position responsibilities. Includes ability to handle luggage and attaché’ cases, etc. normal to business travel of varying length duration. All other duties as assignedOther Duties:

Basic Requirements:
Education: Bachelor's Degree preferred
Experience: 8 – 10 years of experience in similar Materials Management work, including a minimum of 4 – 6 years of management experience preferred.
Physical Skill & Effort:
Limited manual dexterity required. Work requires simple, easy muscular movements.
Working Conditions and Hazards:
Position requires ability to work in a normal office and production plant environment with welding, machining, fabrication operations, or field conditions. From time to time, slightly disagreeable features. Negligible/little or no exposure to hazardous conditions.
