The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing purchasing activities, optimizing warehouse operations, and ensuring smooth production planning and scheduling. This role is crucial in maintaining the balance between cost-effectiveness and meeting production targets. A Day In The Life + Develop, implement, and manage our material control systems to meet production requirements and maintain inventory at optimal levels. + Coordinate and oversee the purchasing of raw materials, components, equipment, and services in line with company quality and procurement policies. + Negotiate contracts with suppliers and vendors to secure advantageous terms and monitor their performance, ensuring compliance and managing any contractual disputes. + Implement strategies for sourcing materials and resources at the best prices and quality, including supplier evaluations and risk assessments. + Oversee warehouse operations to ensure efficiency in material handling, space utilization, and inventory accuracy. + Lead production planning and scheduling activities to align with company objectives, optimizing resources and ensuring timely delivery of products. + Collaborate with others, such as Business Unit Director, Plant Managers, Sales, and Customer Service, to forecast demand and evaluate inventory levels. + Maintain detailed records of essential data (vendors, invoices, inventories, purchasing records) and ensure compliance with all company and regulatory policies. + Lead and develop a team of purchasing, production planning, and warehouse professionals, setting objectives, reviewing performance, directing workload, managing performance, and building career development opportunities. + Stay abreast of advancements in material management practices and technologies to drive and implement improvement initiatives in the materials management process to enhance efficiency and reduce costs in all operational areas. + Utilize SAP reports to manage team effectiveness and efficiency to generate purchase orders and shop orders in support of the master schedule. + Identify and implement methods designed to minimize component shortages while also minimizing raw and WIP inventory levels. + Monitor capacity and load on internal work centers to achieve and maintain acceptable lead times, drive for continuous lead-time reduction. + Direct the annual physical inventory, account for variances, and maintain excess and obsolete inventory program. + Monitor and report to leadership on the strategic measurements (Inventory, delivery service, demonstrated lead time, supplier performance) for the business unit + Review and disposition all engineering change notices (ECNs) that involve manufactured or purchased components - implement ECNs using methods to ensure that there is no interruption in parts availability, and that obsolescence is minimized What will help you thrive in this role? + Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or equivalent work experience. + Proven experience (5+ years) in material management, including purchasing, warehousing, and production planning in a manufacturing environment. + Strong understanding of supply chain and inventory management systems. + Excellent negotiation skills with a track record of securing favorable terms. + Advanced organizational and leadership skills. + Proficient in ERP systems (SAP) and Microsoft Office Suite. + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
