Who will you be working with?

You will be working with other key stakeholders to support the plant and our operations.

How will you make a difference?

You will be responsible for product planning and asset management of traction motor combo components in support of Kansas City and customer part sales.  Demonstrate accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives and develop practical and innovative ways to identify and meet them.  You will use your experience and expertise to solve problems, guide process adherence, develop objectives for self and others to execute business objectives.  This role has the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals. 

What do we want to know about you?

Bachelor's Degree, from an accredited university or college, in Business Management, Operations, Engineering or Technical DisciplineAt least 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing, operations, or materials management position with an understanding of production and inventory control techniques and systemsProven project management skills with the ability to work across functional boundaries and all levels of management.Can demonstrate working execution of master scheduling, inventory management and ability to lead workforce in support of initiatives.Strong team leadership, team building, interpersonal skills, and customer service skillsStrong oral and written communications skills

Desired Characteristics:

Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing techniques and processes.Analyze issues that may arise and create solutions.Basic shop math skills in all units of measure, along with the ability to read and use gauges and measuring instruments.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while having a high degree of attention to details.Knowledge of production/materials control system.Understanding of continuous improvement, lean manufacturing concepts and production schedules preferred.Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to motivate and lead.Experience working with Oracle and Microsoft Office

What will your typical day look like?

Provide support to MSA (Maintenance Service Agreement) and Marketing & Sales in traction motor combo component material requirements and proposal efforts.Work with MSA’s on material forecasts and convert these forecasts into production and material requirements to support a lean manufacturing environment.Manage rotating assets and finished goods inventories by establishing and monitoring Kanbans and lead times based on manufacturing and supply chain capabilities and fluctuating market demands.Support manufacturing in manpower and equipment requirements to meet customer demands.Control product cost through core return inspection and supply chain management. Work with the fulfillment and planning teams to forecast and avoid part shortages affecting production, escalating issues, and communicating to the operations teams. Meet customer schedules effectively through advanced planning and create ability to expedite shipments as required to meet deadlines. Own processes and material metrics associated with material management including fulfillment, inventory turns and inventory levels ensuring operational excellence through all phases. Interact with Engineering, Quality, Sourcing, Finance and Manufacturing to drive issue material resolution. Work with suppliers and customers (external and internal) to identify new opportunities to improve our current processes as well as design and implement progressive management processes and systems based on Lean and Six Sigma for control, presentation, and replenishment of materials. Mentor, develop and oversee a staff of salary and hourly employees covering responsibilities in Inventory Control, Material Planning, Asset Management, Purchasing, Material Handling and Shipping and Receiving. Manage all internal ordering and lineside management of direct material for one or several production lines simultaneously.Ensure work order and transactional accuracy as our customers and internal stakeholders change material requirements for modernization and new build locomotive programs.Provide timely disposition resolution for discrepant and non-conforming material.Lead direct material presentation on all your production lines.Meet inventory targets including month-end and quarter-close processes for inventory in addition to achieving a high level of accuracy during yearly physical inventory.Provide clear communication and technical materials guidance to management and other Wabtec employees daily.Work as part of a cross functional team, driving a "one team" focus, dedicated to customer success within the shop.Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, OSHA work practices, and industry/site-specific work rules.Work with various MRP, quality, and MES software systems to manage material and other systemic requirements.Take ownership of and lead projects for plantwide materials process improvement in addition to your lineside responsibilities.Take a leadership role in your department, flexing outside your traditional job responsibilities to assist and improve other shop operations responsibilities, occasionally report on or present materials metrics and project improvements to senior and executive leadership.

You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary range for this role is between

$77,400.00-$110,300.00

The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. More information on offered benefits, which include health, welfare, and retirement, are available at mywabtecbenefits.com.
