Job Description Summary:
A. JOB SUMMARY:
The overall role of the Materials Operations Planner is to ensure supply of materials to meet the production plan, taking into consideration contracts, batch sizes, inventory policies and storage capacity. The Materials Operations Planner will also lead the relationship Management activities with their suppliers, as they relate to operational or tactical processes.
B. KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Purchase Order Management
- Create, release and follow through of Purchase Orders to meet the demands of the production plan and Product Portfolio requirements for Conco Plant
- Review and execute MRP suggestions and complementary routines to ensure the smooth supply of the assigned materials
- Ensure manufacturing requirements are met, and inventory policy adhered
- Follow through and monitor inbound deliveries with Suppliers, Warehouse, 3PL and QA. Communicate in a timely manner changes which will impact production plan by revising the delivery schedule to ensure that it reflects changes either internally or externally driven, e.g., changes in customer priorities, for Conco
- Liaise with Master Schedulers, Production Schedulers, Lab, Warehouse, Product Portfolio and Customer Services as appropriate.
- Seek productivity initiatives along with CPS sites and Suppliers link to lot size, pack size, MOQs.
- Ownership of MRP II / SCE measures for area of responsibility.
- Execute mitigation plans for ensuring supply continuity at Plant Level (risk analysis, supply continuity taskforce lead, mitigation plan follow-up, related reporting)
- Proactively manage Aging and blocked stock to mitigate the impact to P&L
- Manage supplier’s quality and performance by submitting non-compliance report
2. Materials Review Board
- Support the Materials Review Board (MRB) and Age of Stock process by ensuring inventory levels comply with company’s policy and write-offs are minimized.
3. Business Planning
- Volume verification
4. Supplier Management
Lead the Supplier Management activities for Conco portfolio. The MO will represent the plant to the supplier to ensure that all operational concerns are addressed, Supplier complaints are handled effectively, and Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) activities are delivering continuous improvements to the region. The MO is supported by the Global Materials Planning Team
5. Drive improvement initiatives
- Ownership of MRP II / SCE /OE measures for area of responsibility.
- Proactively identify and drive improvements in business processes.
C. FINANCIAL/ JOB SCOPE:
The base job scope for this position includes the following supply chain key elements to manage, which are subject to change as per business requirements:
- Ingredient and packaging inventory goals.
- Purchase from 250 suppliers across the globe within agreed price and freight terms.
SAP is used to manage manufacturing and supply chain elements.
D. ORGANIZATION IMPACT/ INFLUENCE:
This is a key role in the organization in ensuring materials availability to support production build. Interactions include, but not limited to:
Internal interactions:
- Supply Management Team (Manager, Planners, Demand Analyst, Product Portfolio Coordinators, Warehouse Shift Managers, Customer Services and Transportation Teams) daily.
- Cross functional team, eg, Operations, Quality (daily basis).
External interactions:
- Suppliers (daily)
- Global Materials Planning Team
E. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
No direct reports, but the position is expected to participate in cross functional teams in the execution of supplier performance reviews to meet company standards.
F. RELATED JOB REQUIREMENTS/ QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in multinational organization’s Purchasing / Procurement function.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Excellent PC skills in Microsoft packages
- MRPII or ERP knowledge is required.
- Preference for candidates with good working knowledge of SAP.
- Preference for candidates with Food/ beverage processing or pharmaceutical manufacturing SC experience.
- Quality systems ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 experience would be considered an advantage.
- Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) experience is required.
- Fluent in English, with proficiency in French, Arabic, or siSwati desirable.
G. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
University Degree in Business Administration/Industrial Engineering/Finance
- Supply Chain post-graduate studies or APICS certification preferred
H. CULTURAL DIVERSITY:
The environment is Malti-Lingual, Multi-cultural (Ireland, French, Egyptian, and Swati). English is the primary language used in the team.
I. ANALYSIS:
This position requires high level of analytical, problem solving and strategic thinking. It requires one to drive continuous improvement and productivity using OE tools such as PST, FMEA, Plan Do check Act model
J. JUDGEMENT AND DECISION MAKING:
This position requires making operational decisions and recommendations on build and receiving priorities, which may have an impact on business goals, such as inventory level and Supplier Service Defect Rate (SSDR).
K. WORKING CONDITIONS:
Hazards and risks are the normal ones in a CPS manufacturing plant.
L. TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
The position will be based in Eswatini and focusing on local execution.
