Materials Specialist (Swing and Weekend)

Janicki Industries is an innovative, family-owned aerospace company located at the foot of the Cascades. We focus on engineering and manufacturing complex projects for companies in the aerospace, defense, and space industries. We are looking for a Materials Specialist to join our growing team.

There is a $2.00 shift differential for all hours worked on the Swing or Weekend shift.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

This position is located on-site in Hamilton, Washington State.

The responsibility of the Materials Specialist is to support production through receiving, maintaining production material stocking levels, performing inventory reviews, and staging material for production use. Also, mixing the various putties, resins and paints used throughout the production process. Driving of various non-CDL vehicles between Janicki facilities may be included with this position. 

This position has three levels.  Level I utilizes and perfects the essential job functions. Level II will act as back-up for the Level I position, and Level III will act as back-up for levels I and II while performing higher level materials functions, and assisting the Materials Supervisor with various tasks and projects as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS LEVEL I

Performs all daily tasks in the Materials department following JI procedures Operates a forklift for loading and unloading pallets safely from a truck or from shelves Performs receiving functions per JI procedures: Confirms and inspects incoming materials and supplies to verify completeness of shipments against purchase orders, pack slips, bills of lading, and Receiving Inspection Requirements Communicates issues with requestors and buyers Scans copies of the material receiving documentation into document management system Put away direct, standard and supply materials in warehouse per JI procedures using barcode scanners Fulfills production requests through kitting, staging, and distributing materials using barcode scanners Prepares materials for internal move transfers and disperses them when received Checks and resupplies point-of-use locations and removes expired materials Packs and disposes of all hazardous materials in accordance with state and federal laws Utilizes first in and first out practices. Checks and recognizes materials that are near expiration date and alert production for use Performs inventory cycle counts as required and material recounts for inventory reconciliation using barcode scanners Monitors cleanliness and organization of warehouse and workspace Ensures safe working practices are adhered to Performs other duties as assigned Optional responsibilities may include receiving specialized training in mixing putties, resins, and paints to maintain adequate stock for production. This will be reviewed individually with employees as needed and require training and respirator FIT testing prior to performing these duties. Behavior: The incumbent must work well under pressure, meeting and completing multiple deadlines. The incumbent shall, at all times, demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors. Being at work on time and maintaining good attendance is a condition of employment and is an essential function of the job

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS LEVEL II (in addition to back-up for Level I)

Works with Purchasing on Return Merchandise Authorizations Initiates non-conformance reports and segregates nonconformance materials to the MRB areas and works with QA for disposition Collects and processes semi-finished materials from production Maintains frozen inventory, this includes: Filling out and updating proper documentation and SAP for time and temperature sensitive materials Moving materials in and out of the freezer per production requests Perform SAP transactions for frozen materials Cycle counting frozen materials Performs freezer audits and limited calibration maintenance Downloads and analyzes calibrated temperature data validating freezer conformance Works with the quality coordinator to ensure the calibrated monitoring equipment remains up to date Writes Nonconforming Reports for freezer and/or frozen materials and updates the time-out cards Follows all freezer safety policies Monitors and maintains cleanliness of the freezers

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS LEVEL III (in addition to back-up for Level I and II)

Troubleshoots material issues in SAP Reviews and analyzes material forecast for direct and indirect material usage Monitors and maintains stock levels of consumable items by adjusting Min and Max levels Maintains stocking levels through requisitions for direct and indirect production materials Communicates with Management for continual improvement and product implementation Monitors compliance to policies and ensures best practices are adhered to Acts as focal for all material movement through the Receiving department Assist the Materials Supervisor to resolve complex receiving issues Works with Finance/Purchasing at month end to help close the financial reporting Reviews production drawings and Bills of Materials to verify adequate stock on-hand Maintains part and material traceability from receiving to production

QUALIFICATIONS

Due to our ITAR and EAR regulations, applicants must be a US Citizen or of Legal Permanent Resident Status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b (a) (3).

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED required Some forklift experience is required; must be able to be trained and pass certification Previous warehousing experience Must possess basic math skills; must be able to work independently A valid driver's license is required Must be willing and able to obtain a government issued security clearance

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

If selected for an interview, a forklift driving test will be administered for knowledge and proficiency determination. Wage range for this role is between $23 - $35 an hour plus a discretionary bonus, 401(k) matching, vacation, and health benefits. Employees can also receive additional pay for off-shifts, off-site work, and access pay. The range provided is Janicki’s estimate of the base compensation for this role. Actual amount offered will be based on job-related and non-discriminatory factors such as experience, location, education, training, skills, and abilities.
