The Classroom Support Technician is a vital part of McIntire’s IT Operations team. The position is primarily responsible for supporting and maintaining the school’s classroom and conference room audio-video technology and providing a high level of support for all end users. This position will also support McIntire Zoom and cloud recording applications and provide in-person support for evening and weekend events as needed. The Classroom Support Technician will work directly with faculty, staff, and students.
Job duties include:
1. Support classroom technology
Troubleshoot hardware and software issues for faculty, staff and students
Provide routine maintenance and troubleshooting classroom equipment such as projectors, touchscreen controllers, wired and wireless video connections, video conferencing/recording systems, and document cameras
Update and maintain AV equipment with guidance from the MAVS manager, utilizing in-person and remote management solutions
2. Support Zoom sessions for hybrid meetings and recording
3. Support A/V needs for special events, which may require evening or weekend work.
4. Assist in basic editing and publishing of multimedia content
5. Special projects as necessary, including installation of classroom AV hardware
6. Contribute to a robust documentation system consisting of:
Logging all support tickets
Issue tracking and resolutions
Process documentation
7. Carry out all of the above with professionalism and a “white glove” approach to service
Minimum Requirements
Education: High School degree or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Computer Engineering or related discipline preferred.
Experience: At least one year of experience. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Preferred Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's or Associate’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Computer Engineering or related discipline.
Experience: 3 years working experience in IT/AV support.

This is an onsite position in Charlottesville and is not eligible for remote work.This is primarily a Monday-Friday position with standard work day hours. However, at times this role will be asked to support special events in the evenings or on a weekend, with the weekly schedule adjusted accordingly.

Physical Demands
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs. Frequent walking will be required to support users across the School’s four-building complex, responding quickly to urgent support requests. Physical maintenance of equipment may require crouching under a table, climbing a ladder for access, or mounting/removing large flatscreen monitors on a wall. This role will be required to work with low-voltage electrical power. The ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds is required.
