This role demands expertise in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a fleet of diesel, propane, and electric engine school buses. Key Responsibilities:
Conduct diagnostic tests using advanced tools and software to troubleshoot diesel, propane, and electric engine issues.Perform moderate complexity repairs and replacements on diesel, propane, and electric engine components, ensuring optimal functionality.Assist A-Level Mechanics in advanced diagnostic and repair tasks, contributing to efficient workflow.Execute routine maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns and optimize diesel engine performance.Lead diagnostic tests to accurately identify complex issues and determine comprehensive repair strategies for diesel, propane, and electric engines.Perform advanced troubleshooting and repair tasks on diesel, propane, and electric engines, including overhauling and rebuilding components to required specifications.Provide guidance and mentorship to junior technicians, assisting them in developing their skills and knowledge.Other duties as required. Qualifications: Three (3) years of experience as a Diesel or Automotive Mechanic.Bus or heavy-duty truck repair experience preferred.Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.A High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).A degree in Automotive Technology, Engineering or a related field preferred.Must have a valid driver's license and maintain an excellent motor vehicle record.A valid Class B Commercial Driver's License preferred.ASE certifications in school bus, heavy truck, and/or transit bus preferred.Must possess a Mechanic's Tool Set.Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, and various heavy equipment engines, transmissions, starting and charging systems, brake systems, electrical systems, and component overhaul procedures.Ability to operate hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, lathes, welding equipment, jacks, and hoists.Ability to work in a safe manner.Ability to comprehend parts books and maintenance manuals, and accurately complete any necessary reports or other documents.Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.Subject to DOT drug testing and physical if applicable.
