Key Responsibilities:

Conduct diagnostic tests using advanced tools and software to troubleshoot diesel, propane, and electric engine issues.Perform moderate complexity repairs and replacements on diesel, propane, and electric engine components, ensuring optimal functionality.Assist A-Level Mechanics in advanced diagnostic and repair tasks, contributing to efficient workflow.Execute routine maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns and optimize diesel engine performance.Lead diagnostic tests to accurately identify complex issues and determine comprehensive repair strategies for diesel, propane, and electric engines.Perform advanced troubleshooting and repair tasks on diesel, propane, and electric engines, including overhauling and rebuilding components to required specifications.Provide guidance and mentorship to junior technicians, assisting them in developing their skills and knowledge.Other duties as required. Qualifications:  Three (3) years of experience as a Diesel or Automotive Mechanic.Bus or heavy-duty truck repair experience preferred.Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.A High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).A degree in Automotive Technology, Engineering or a related field preferred.Must have a valid driver's license and maintain an excellent motor vehicle record.A valid Class B Commercial Driver's License preferred.ASE certifications in school bus, heavy truck, and/or transit bus preferred.Must possess a Mechanic's Tool Set.Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, and various heavy equipment engines, transmissions, starting and charging systems, brake systems, electrical systems, and component overhaul procedures.Ability to operate hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, lathes, welding equipment, jacks, and hoists.Ability to work in a safe manner.Ability to comprehend parts books and maintenance manuals, and accurately complete any necessary reports or other documents.Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.Subject to DOT drug testing and physical if applicable.  DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.Physical Requirements:  The essential functions of this position require the ability to:Work in an environment outside or inside exposed to varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions - work alone and in remote locations.Occasionally stand, stoop, squat, and walk for extended periods of time; bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level; use hands and fingers to handle small parts, push buttons; and use hands, arms, legs and feet to climb ladders and stairs.Sit or stand for extended periods (up to 6-8 hours per day); frequently walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground, or slippery and uneven surfaces.Must lift 50 lbs. from floor to bus, lift/carry 15 lbs. up to 100'; push and pull objects up to 50 lbs. up to 8', torque 100 lbs. wheel lugs; occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighting up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; and move the steering wheel and operate pedals freely while seated in bus seat.Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job; tolerate exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
