The Conserv FS vision is to be the best, most innovative and diversified agricultural cooperative. * Mechanic - Wauconda* * * * REPORTS TO: Shop Foreman STATUS*/: / *Non-exempt* * SALARY RANGE:* $20 - $30 / hour * * * * * _PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT_* Performs vehicle and equipment repairs in response to requests from staff and location managers. * _ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS_* * _ _* Maintenance and repairs of vehicles and equipment. Maintains an appropriate inventory of parts. Maintains service records of each piece of equipment and vehicle to document a quality maintenance program and meet DOT requirements. Responsible for housekeeping of the shop. * _OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS_* May be required to provide backup in the Crops, Energy and Turf Departments. Responsible for maintaining the assigned vehicle according to company standards, adheres to the uniform policy, and maintains the appropriate professional image. Performs all other duties as assigned. * _REQUIREMENTS_* Normally requires a high school diploma, or the equivalent thereof, and 5 years or more of related work experience Required skills include fabrication, cutting, welding, bearing replacement, engine service/maintenance/adjustments (both gas & diesel), automotive electrical, brake adjustment/repair (both mechanical & air) and hydraulic troubleshooting/repair. Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus and skill development. Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record. Requires an acceptable CDL with Hazmat and tanker endorsements. Frequently exposed or required to: * Extreme weather conditions /(hot, cold, wet, etc.)/ * Noisy conditions * Working conditions may include dust, fumes, chemicals, and electrical hazards with appropriate safety measures * May be required to work at varying heights * Confined spaces * Lift 51-70 pounds * Required to push heavy objects Ability to work extended hours. Ability to travel independently and overnight. Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on Conserv FS’s policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
