ChristianaCare is looking for a full-time Mechanic I to provide mechanical repairs and maintenance required to keep assigned equipment and systems in good working order.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintains and repairs portable patient equipment (i.e. wheelchairs, IV poles, stretchers, and beds.)Performs building maintenance tasks (i.e., hanging pictures, repairing and replacing ceiling tiles, floor tiles, cove base, light bulbs, and mounting signs, and drywall patching & painting)Repairs and maintains, in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer's specifications, machinery and mechanical equipment, such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment, using hand tools, power tools, and precision-measuring and testing instrumentsObserves mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective partsRepairs or replaces defective parts, using hand and power tools.Lubricates and cleans parts.Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices.Reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.Service response time, neatness, customer service relationships, and quality work are essential to this job position.This job requires employees to demonstrate initial and annual competencies in order to remain in the position.Performs other duties as needed or assigned.Hours: Day shift 7:30a - 4:00p M-F (other shifts as needed to support department needs)
Education and Experience Requirements
High School Graduate or equivalent. Vocational or trade school experience is desired.
Five (5) years practical mechanic experience.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
Must have basic computer skills including Microsoft applications.
Physical demands:
Walking, lifting, bending, stooping, reaching and climbing. Minimum lifting requirement of 75lbs. Must have manual dexterity and visual acuity to manipulate equipment and supplies. Must have complete unrestricted physical mobility to access the entire facility and related properties. Must be able to assume positions, such as; standing, climbing, bending or stooping for long periods of time. Must be able to hear and orally communicate on the telephone and two way radio system.
Working conditions:
Exposure to chemical fumes, dust, heat, and noise. May be exposed to extreme temperature changes
Risk A - Exposure category. Potential for exposure to blood borne pathogens, HIV/AIDS or Hepatitis B in the performance of this job.
