Hours Flexible.** **Competitive Pay starting at $26.75** **Position Summary:** Building Mechanic This role is responsible for the maintenance of facilities for an assigned facility and/or company retail stores; follow defined procedures and processes relating to repairs and/or replacements of equipment and fixtures. **What You'll Do:** + Ensure distribution center meets all safety requirements + Repair and/or replace equipment and fixtures as necessary (i.e., floors, ceiling, walls, doors, cabinets, light bulbs, plumbing, electrical, etc.) + Maintain a clean and safe work environment; ensure work is completed in a timely manner while keeping operations business needs in mind + Perform occasional repairs on forklifts, pallet trucks, and other material handling equipment + Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on motive power batteries and chargers + Assist with maintaining the inventory and recommended stock lists of critical spare parts and service supplies + Complete facility compliance, safety, and food safety inspections and create action plans to correct deficiencies + Assist with maintenance of facility security, asset protection, and safety needs **What You'll Need:** + High School Graduate or Equivalent (GED) + 1-3 years’ experience with a combination of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and an understanding of environmental issues. + Experience with food distribution requirements strongly preferred + Excellent communication skills, written and verbal to communicate and/or document maintenance needs and status of projects using computers and Microsoft Office Applications + Basic math, writing and computer skills related to mechanic aptitude/maintenance + Prior experience in facility maintenance a plus + Prior experience with commercial refrigeration a plus + Must be able to organize and prioritize work assignments and meet established deadlines + Must perform assigned tasks accurately and completely + Must be able to work alone at times + Must be flexible and able to manage changes in work requirements productively **Physical Requirements:** The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this position, employees are subject to a warehouse environment and may frequently be exposed to changes in temperature and humidity based on assignment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. Employees must be able to work weekends, holidays, days and night hours, and overtime as necessary and as assigned, and must be able to work in the condition specified for 8-10 hours shift as assigned. Travel requirements vary by assignment.
