Licensed Electrician Role Summary:
Install, maintain, test, troubleshoot, service and repair industrial electrical equipment and associated electrical protection and controls. These include equipment or components directly or indirectly exposed to electrical power such as motors, generators, pumps and lighting systems. Electricians must read and interpret standards, prints, drawings and codes for layout and installation of electrical equipment. They install, service and maintain electrical components such as lighting fixtures, switches, conduit and electrical controls. They test electrical systems and continuity of circuits using test equipment to ensure system safety and compatibility. They conduct preventative and predictive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records. May specialize in maintenance functions in areas such as high voltage, building automation and process control.
Key Accountabilities:
The following are essential duties and responsibilities for this position:
Adhere to all health and safety policies/procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) while in the warehouse or production areas. Responsible to adhere to food quality and food safety as per quality standards and/or Safe Quality Food requirements. Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical/electronic equipment, will provide measurable improvements and enhancements to controls and systems. Responsible for programmable controls, numeral controls, power supplies, drives, gages and test equipment and specialized test systems and methods. Plans and performs complex corrective and preventative maintenance requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical theories and principles. Will be required to understand and baseline the current state in terms of the effectiveness of work order planning and scheduling and cost (materials, resources, time) implications. Master the basics of the CMMS system utilized at the plant (i.e. SAP-PM) and become knowledgeable with system reporting and work order systems and methods – gaps will be identified and a formal improvement plan developed and put into place. Improve communications between and show an improvement in the effectiveness of work order effectiveness and work order completion rate, reduction in back log, and a set of prioritized work orders with (improved) methods and procedures in place. Work with all plant groups & levels and within each of the aspect of the equipment maintenance team, including suppliers and OEM representatives, contractors and safety systems support vendors, internal and external auditors, and all SQF, GMP and Supply Chain (purchasing) groups) Optimize and effectively accomplish all work and work orders (from break down to condition based) and lead in the development of rules and controls over the planning and scheduling efforts. Support and train Maintenance Supervisors and Technicians on the planning and scheduling systems (SAP-PM / CMMS) to plan and schedule maintenance activities in order to maintain PM and Pd.M. program Contributes to measurable improvements in scheduled, unscheduled and break down maintenance related down time and the costs associated with these events to contribute to CPC (cost per case) goals for each plant and shares best practices across and within the enterprise.Skills/Qualifications:
Demonstrates expertise and proficiency with basic office computer software, with the ability to learn how to effectively use maintenance software to input data and research parts. Has strong verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability and capability to perform and succeed in an environment of schedule and cost pressure. Capability to professionally deal with changing priorities and requirements. Thorough technical knowledge in the field of industrial maintenance, including relevant regulations, standards and codes. Ability to read and understand complex diagrams. Capable of MOS leadership skills combined with team player attitude. Must possess manual dexterity, and good planning, organizational and communication skills. They also require strong analytical, mathematical and problem-solving skills to read and interpret schematics, drawings and specifications. Have good mechanical aptitude to install, troubleshoot and repair equipment. It is important to have a good grasp of digital technology because many of the skills and technology are computer based. They must also have good vision and hearing, the ability to distinguish colours and a willingness to upgrade their skills to adapt to new developments in the trade. Thorough understanding of engineering principles and maintenance practices. Ability to read and understand complex piping diagrams and mechanical drawings. Objective judgment and fact based decision making approach. Strong multi-tasking competency.Education and Experience:
Industrial Electrician (Red Seal Certified) Degree with 3 years + experience in Journeymen or equivalent (or higher level education) in the field of mechanical / electrical engineering and/or industrial, mechanical, electrical PLC (Systems and Controls) maintenance planning. or Bachelor's Degree in Industrial or Electrical Engineering with an emphasis in logistics and planning with 3+ years of experience - 10+ years combined professional experience in the field of mechanical / electrical engineering and/or industrial mechanical /electrical / PLC / Controls systems maintenance planningWorking Conditions:
Physical-Continuously standing or walking. Regular requirements to lift/handle/carry material or equipment of moderate weight. Visual/Sensory-This position requires regular need to give moderate attention with one or two senses at a time. Work environment- Work and environment are very repetitive. Mental Stress- There is pronounced pressure from deadlines, production quotas, accuracy or similar demands.
