Job Information
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Systems Engineer with expertise in cooling and Heat Transfer systems and a deep understanding of data center cooling methodologies. This role will require a strong focus on chilling systems, pumps, heat exchangers, and the integration of these systems within high-performance, energy-efficient data centers. The ideal candidate will also have experience working with vendors on component selection and collaborating with customers to develop tailored integrated cooling solutions for data centers.
Role & Responsibility
Integrated Solutions for Customers:
Collaborate with customers and stakeholders to understand their unique requirements and design integrated Heat Transfer solutions that meet their specific cooling, energy, and operational needs. Provide technical expertise to customers, ensuring the designed solutions align with their data center's performance goals.
Fuel Cell Requirements Definition:
Propose and support changes to the Fuel Cell thermal management systems to integrate with onsite cooling or other heat transfer systems more easily.
Cooling System Design & Optimization:
Design and optimize Heat Transfer systems to meet the cooling and ventilation needs of data centers. This includes finding supplier partner which can utilize fuel cell energy to power chilled water systems, in-row cooling, free cooling, and liquid cooling solutions to ensure optimal thermal management in high-density IT environments. Work collaboratively with electrical engineers, IT teams, and facilities management to ensure Heat Transfer systems are integrated seamlessly with other critical systems in the data center.
Chilling Systems & Heat Exchanger Design:
Lead the design, selection, and optimization of cooling systems, including chillers, pumps, heat exchangers, and cooling towers. Ensure systems are designed to deliver energy-efficient cooling with redundancy and performance reliability in conjunction with CHP fuel cells.
Role & Responsibility - continued
Pump Systems Design & Integration:
Design and integrate efficient pump systems for chilled water loops, hydronic systems, and other fluid-based cooling systems. Work on selecting appropriate pumps to ensure optimal performance and redundancy across the system.
Vendor & Component Selection:
Work closely with manufacturer of heat transfer product to evaluate, select, and specify the best components for each cooling system, ensuring alignment with project requirements and energy efficiency goals. Support the supplier selection process and ensure quality control and reliability of selected components by reviewing prior reliability data and addition verification testing if required.
Reliability & Redundancy Design:
Design heat transfer systems with a strong emphasis on redundancy, resilience, and high availability, incorporating N+1 configurations and failover mechanisms to ensure uninterrupted cooling even in the event of system failures.
Project Management & Documentation:
Develop comprehensive project documentation, including system layouts, specifications, operation manuals, and performance reports. Coordinate with project teams to ensure timely and successful implementation.
Troubleshooting & System Support:
Provide ongoing support for troubleshooting and resolving heat transfer system issues in operational data centers. Perform root cause analysis and take corrective actions to improve system efficiency and performance
