Mechanical Assembler (Industrial Machinery)

Job Description

Assembles machines, equipment, and their sub-assemblies using Lean and 5S methodologies and by following blueprints and other written and verbal specifications.

In this position you will work on robust machinery support and modifications that help customers improve their production output. Work closely with Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineers, and Production to ensure a successful product. Job Responsibilities & Requirements

Responsibilities:

Perform mechanical assembly of large-scale industrial automated equipment.

Update, evaluate, and support automated industrial machinery products with focus on new solutions.

Assemble sub-assemblies per drawing and/or work instructions with minimal supervision.

Contribute to the development of product documentation. 

Participate in the creation of support documentation as it relates to machinery repairs and troubleshooting.

Review/stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies.

Provide design feedback and opportunities based upon assembly.

Perform minor layout work, drilling, and tapping.  

Remove small quantities of metal to clean parts or to produce close fit between parts.  

Align components, and bolts, screws, and rivets them together.   

Maintain clean and organized work area.  

Perform other duties as assigned.  

Attendance at work during the regularly scheduled shift is an essential duty. This includes but is not limited to the ability to be present at work, arrive on time and be at the work area ready for work at the start of the shift.  

Qualifications:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Proactive individual with mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic aptitude.

Must possess good mechanical background with the ability to use hand tools and small power tools.

Ability to read a scale or tape rule with 1/32 inch increments accurately.

Ability to read and follow mechanical drawings and schematics and have a general knowledge of layout work.

Experience in assembling mechanical systems including motors, servo motors, hydraulics, pneumatics, rack pinion, conveyors, structural systems, etc.

Ability to work individually and as part of a team performing assembly on large scale machinery.

Exceptional trouble shooting and problem-solving skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).

Knowledge of industrial machinery and robotics highly preferred.

Experience with SolidWorks highly preferred.
