Mechanical/Commissioning Engineer

Job Description
General Responsibilities:

Provide mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineering and consulting services for a broad array of projects and clients. This may include performing field investigations, engineering analyses, calculations, design and development of plans and specifications, field observations and reporting, and the writing, preparation, and review of related reports for the services provided. Observe construction and verify compliance with plans and specifications. Prepare proposals and fee estimates, track and evaluate project progress. Research and help resolve design and construction problems. Assign, review, and evaluate field data for inclusion in reports. Apply sound engineering principles and be able to communicate engineering issues and concepts to technical and non-technical clients and project teams. Services may be provided for new or existing building projects in the K-12 schools, commercial real estate, healthcare, higher education, and retail sectors. Lead MEP projects such as diagnostic assessments, remedial design, MEP focused facility condition assessments (FCAs), energy audits and energy modeling, energy code compliance verification, commissioning (Cx), retro-commissioning (RCx), and construction observations.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:Participate in safety rules and practices for the team and help the team follow rules and practices. Model a safe work environment demonstrating safety practices. Promote pre-task planning for all projects.Promote continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects. Follow quality standards and practices.Develop understanding and be aware of project-related risks and how to protect the Company. Be familiar with company risk policies.Work under senior level engineering professional that would provide technical direction for production and completion of both routine and unique or complex projects.Assist senior engineer in conceptualizing the design and/or investigative approach for projects.Assist senior engineer in planning, scheduling, conducting, and/or coordinating engineering work involving conventional engineering practices and may include a variety of complex requirements such as varied design and code mandates.Involvement in a variety of projects requiring detailed and innovative investigation techniques and assist in the analysis and formulation of recommendations in written reports to clients.Participate in technical training and understand use of the technology in practice.Assist in business development efforts with Department Manager and Business Development personnel.Execute projects from proposal to final reporting or design documents under the direction of the Department Manager or Senior Engineer.Prepare proposals for review and signature by senior engineer.Interface with internal and external clients.Coordinate work assignments with other department personnel and other Terracon Facilities offices.Conduct field diagnostics, assessments, and analyses; prepare reports.Prepare MEP remedial design work in conjunction with other department personnel in MEP and other disciplines; and perform other requirements to complete project manuals and documents for permitting; perform construction administration.Mentor junior professionals that are involved on projects.Manage and perform projects concurrently that have varied beginning and completion dates.Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.Minimum three-five years’ experience with building MEP systemsEngineer in Training designation.Able to obtain Professional Engineer License within 2-years of date of hire.Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.Able to obtain professional Commissioning Agent certification within 2-years of date of hire.Able to obtain Certified Energy Manager (CEM) within 3-years of date of hire.Local market knowledge.Ability to travel to out-of-state projects up to 15%Preferred Certification:Engineer in TrainingLEED GA/LEED AP
