Mechanical Design Engineer
The Mechanical Design position is responsible for working individually, with a local team or global engineering team on product design which satisfy customer specifications. This process includes design, product validation, completing documentation and executing launch items for production. Complete all related drawings, documentations and release in internal systems.

General Responsibilities
• Develop designs within inter-disciplinary teams to address complex product design and manufacturing challenges
• Provides technical direction, serves as a point of contact to customers. Prepares briefings for senior management and assists in problem resolution specific to programs/project.
• Able to train others in statistics and data analysis beyond what is covered by 6 sigma
• Expert on most of applications and technology within Sensata. Able to identify new sockets for products (i.e. new applications)
• Can define and write specifications for new and different products/components. Capable to learn and rapidly contribute to new technologies acquired
• Collaborate with world class semiconductor companies to develop and qualify new custom ASICs and support existing sensor ASICs
• Conducts feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs. Directs support personnel (technicians and drafting teams) in the preparation of detailed technology selection, conceptual design, detail design and prototyping
• Development testing, engineering analysis, qualification testing, production launch
• Resolves problems of limited scope through the use of engineering fundamentals. Executes scripted Design/Process Validation testing with limited support.
• Maintain product documentation (drawings and specifications) and lessons learned
• Direct interaction with customers to solicit product specifications requirements, schedule expectations and budget
• Analog and digital circuit design proficiency from the circuit board to transistor level
• Advanced understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials, mechanics, fluid, thermo and heat transfer. Advanced knowledge of micro-electronic design, fabrication and packaging processes
• Knowledge of basic electrical circuits, microelectronic assembly, statistical methods, process control fundamentals and product test processes
• Familiarity with manufacturing methods – welding, brazing, soldering, adhesive bonding, machining, stamping, molding and forming. Basic knowledge of a core manufacturing processes (Calibration, Final Function Transfer, leak testing, welding/soldering, adhesive and gel dispensing)

Experience / Qualifications
• A university degree required (i.e. Bachelors degree) or equivalent relevant work experience.
• Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands
• Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation
• Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results
• Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity
• Holds self-accountable to achieving goals and standards
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
• Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers
