Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer
Job Description

We are currently hiring a Mechanical Design Engineer for a client that specializes in designing and manufacturing industrial automated equipment. This position will be a 9-month Contract-to-Hire role, with the potential to become a direct hire after the initial period. During the contract period, you will receive accrued PTO, holiday pay, 401k contributions, and benefits/insurance. The position is located in the Greater Columbus region.

ResponsibilitiesWork with the Project Manager and other team members to assess project assignments and ideas.Interact and communicate with customers.Design safe and cost-effective machine concepts, parts models, and assemblies based on customer requirements.Detail parts and assembly drawings, including tolerance specifications, and release them to the machine shop.Support the machine shop with part detail drawings.Research and order components for machine design, including pneumatic cylinders, valves, air prep systems, bearings, motors, drive systems, sensors, and other devices used in automated machinery design.Document the bill of materials.Interface with and support Assembly, Electrical, and Software Design teams.Essential SkillsBachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering OR 8+ years of experience as a Design Engineer within SolidWorks.5+ years of experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer with 3D design for automated equipment, or exposure to automated equipment design.Prior 3D modeling experience within a CAD software (SolidWorks is highly preferred).Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).Experience with Bill of Materials (BoM) or releasing BoM documentation.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with SolidWorks, 3D modeling, 3D design, automation design, automated equipment, CAD design, CAD software, 3D solidworks, 3D design engineering, 3D model, geometric dimensioning, CAD designing, equipment design, automated machinery, equipment layout, facility layout, valves, and bill of materials.Work Environment

This position involves working in an office environment with occasional interactions on the shop floor. The company offers a small, tight-knit atmosphere where you can work on new and exciting projects each week. You will have the opportunity to work on turnkey projects for clients, enhancing your design skills and developing expertise in your field.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.06 - $43.27
