In this role, you will be a part of the Mechanical team, of the MEP Buildings sector (Science/Technology projects), based in Raleigh, North Carolina.

ResponsibilitiesProficient in Revit or CAD with working in 3D modelsPrepare HVAC one-line diagramsPrepare/Review HVAC calculations for loadsThorough knowledge of Mechanical and energy codesEdit specifications to reflect the project requirementsDevelop equipment room sizes during SD and DD phasesSelect and schedule equipmentMeet with vendors to determine specification requirements for applicationCoordinate with other disciplines (MEPFP, arch, struct, etc.)Respond to RFI’s for the project and accurately review submittalsSolve installation problemsApply risk management procedures daily to minimize exposure to problemsUnderstand MEP/FP work planning and manage design process to the available hours in work planUnderstand proper scope of MEP/DD, CD level documents and deliver appropriate documentationWork with project coordinator and clients to meet scheduled project milestones of multiple projectsManage and deliver revisions (ASI’s, etc.) and sketches according to proper numbering conventionEdit and develop scope of work narratives (SD narrative, basis of design, etc.)Understand specific engineering requirements for applications within a market sectorProvide existing details relevant to projectsDirect and mentor Designer level staff on all their responsibilities on a daily basisPerform at a ‘responsible charge’ level; meeting design and quality levelsQA/QC reviews of all calculations by designers and provide guidance and mentoringDetermine content of drawings and specs for Designers to meet the scope of workDevelop and monitor work plans in conjunction with other Project ManagersReview code related items with Designers and ensure complianceManage work plans and deliverables on multiple projects within budgeted hoursWrite studies and reports for systems on projectsWrite sequences of operations for AHU’s, CHW and HW systemsUnderstand and apply concepts of CHW, HW, WSHP, variable & constant flow systemsAir side systems - CV, VAV, coil selection, fan selectionHydronic Systems - hot, chilled condenser, steamThorough understanding of psychometrics and be able to apply to every projectAdvanced equipment selection and analysis – chillers, boilers, air terminals, cooling towers, air valves, heap filters, DX equipment, and water source heat pumpsThorough understanding of total energy conceptsFluent in energy software applicationsFluent in developing life cycle cost analysis (LCCA) for project systemEssential SkillsBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural EngineeringEngineering degree in the field of mechanical engineering with 4+ years of building HVAC design experienceEIT or Registered Professional Engineer preferredExperience designing and marketing in science and technology preferredAdditional Skills & QualificationsMechanical designMechanical engineeringProject managementHVAC EngineeringMechanical EngineeringHVAC Engineering & DesignTechnical LeadershipRevitPlumbing designAutocadWork Environment

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $130000.00/yr.
