MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER
**Olsten Staffing is currently recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer for a well known company in the Florence area.** **Manufacturing Engineering:** Job Description: This position will provide product support for a variety of elevator components and mechanical systems. The position will play a crucial role in maintaining product integrity, evaluating opportunities, and integrating new component designs into existing systems, while working to meet agreed upon cost and schedule commitments. Other responsibilities include: Typical responsibilities include product life cycle maintenance, cost reduction projects, and product improvements. Responsibilities will also include analyzing, designing, and modifying elevator components and complete elevator systems in support of SCM sourcing activities. The candidate should be able to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical assembly drawings, and sometimes building plans in order to analyze complex problems and identify root cause issues and develop innovative solutions. The ability to work across engineering disciplines with electrical engineers, software engineers, and test engineers as well as support supplier inquiries on current design. The candidate must be a self-starter with excellent interpersonal skills and be able to collaborate effectively working on cross-functional teams in order to work closely with manufacturing operations, supply management, contract logistics, finance, and field support to ensure designs are compatible with requirements from across the organization. Works autonomously with limited supervision. Influences others within the work area through explanation of facts, policies and practices. Sets objectives for own area of responsibility to meet the objectives or goals of projects and assignments. Problem Solving & Complexity: Problems and issues faced are general, and may require understanding of broader set of issues. Problems may span a range of issues or work areas and are typically solved through exercise of discretion and / or judgment, drawing from prior experiences, with analysis of the issue. Responsible for making minor changes or enhancements in systems and processes to solve problems or improve effectiveness of work area. Communication & Influence: Communicates with parties within and outside of own team. Explains policies, practices and procedures of the work area to others within the organization, influencing decision-makers with recommended courses of action.
