Mechanical Design Engineer
Job Title: Mechanical Design EngineerJob Description Utilize mechanical engineering principles, critical thinking, and creativity to develop new products and improve existing products to meet established objectives. From concept to production, you will generate design concepts using parametric solid and sheet metal modeling, produce production drawings and specifications, and ensure designs are safe and reliable. Responsibilities + Generate design concepts using parametric solid and sheet metal modeling. + Produce production drawings and specifications in accordance with relevant standards and procedures. + Structure and load complete bills of materials into the manufacturing ERP system. + Perform mechanical design calculations such as stress and deflection. + Evaluate designs and manufacturing methods to ensure cost-effectiveness. + Prototype components and assemblies to validate manufacturability, fit, and function. + Plan, execute, analyze, and document results of performance and reliability tests. + Redesign existing products to reduce costs, improve manufacturability, or enhance performance. + Assist sales teams and distribution partners with proper application of products and evaluation of new opportunities. + Collaborate with manufacturing engineers, quality engineers, production supervisors, purchasing agents, machine programmers, and other cross-functional teams. Essential Skills + Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. + Minimum of 3 years product design experience. + Experience with common manufacturing processes including sheet metal fabrication, stamping, welding, machining, and extrusions. + Solid modeling experience, preferably with Creo/ProE. + ERP system familiarity including structured bill of material data entry. + Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel; PowerPoint and Project proficiency beneficial. + Strong oral and written communication skills. + Ability to manage multiple projects under time restrictions. + Travel up to 10% to obtain customer input, validate product performance, and troubleshoot issues. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Emerging project management abilities with career interest in team leadership. + Experience with plastic component design preferred. + Finite element analysis experience beneficial. + Hands-on fabrication process experience. + Experience with electro-mechanical systems and power transmission design. + Windchill vault experience would be nice. + Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration. Work Environment You will work with a team of five engineers and a designer, including project engineers and mechanical design engineers. The team varies in experience, and you will have opportunities for mentorship. We have a hybrid schedule with two days from home, but prefer in-person for training and collaboration. During the first 90 days, in-person attendance is required for training. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $85000.00/yr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
