Mechanical Design Engineer (HVAC & Sanitary)

Role description:

This role will form an integral part of our Global Excellence Centre (GEC) – Arcadis centralized and fully integrated project delivery group. Our GEC comprises more than 3,000 talented individuals working in offices across Romania, India, and the Philippines, providing Capability, Capacity, and a Competitive advantage across various unique projects and services in collaboration with our global businesses.

The MEPF Discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection) in the GECs comprises cross-functional teams that contribute to developing innovative MEPF solutions that optimize energy efficiency, sustainability, and occupant comfort. Our ability to effectively manage projects, assess client needs, and provide technical guidance is crucial in delivering successful outcomes using the most innovative computational design methods.

Role accountabilities:

Your role will include, but is not limited to:

Developing a deep understanding of engineering and design of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems. Developing multiple solutions for an asset and making a technical-economic assessment of the system that best fits client and project requirements. Designing, calculating, sketching, and 3D modeling of diagrams, P&IDs, and engineering drawings for all project phases (Feasibility, Concept design, Detailed design, Execution). Developing a proficient level of use of Autodesk Revit, understanding, and applying BIM processes and other software used in calculation. Having the ability to plan, organize, and execute projects effectively. This includes managing budgets, coordinating with other disciplines, and overseeing the work of junior engineers or technicians. Estimating the necessary budget, resource list, and schedule for the entire MEP scope of the project. Creating comprehensive engineering documents, including equipment specifications, reports, and presentations. Follow company standards and procedures, including design and checking. Attend relevant design and client meetings to understand the project and design work required better and ask the internal team questions as necessary. Ensuring that the MEP designs meet safety, environmental, sustainability, and energy efficiency regulations, following industry standards and guidelines. Implementing national/international standards in MEP design, client demands, and project-specific requirements.

Qualifications & Experience:

Mandatory:

Bachelor’s degree in Building Services Engineering. Solid knowledge of design software (e.g. AutoCAD, Revit, MagiCAD) and calculation software (HAP, Design Builder, DiaLux etc.) A minimum of 3+ years’ experience in building services engineering is required. Strong English language skills. Comprehensive knowledge of national, international, and local codes and standards. Good understanding of energy and sustainability regulations and industry best practices. Proven ability to innovate and develop creative solutions to complex building services design challenges. They should be adept at problem-solving and have a track record of implementing new technologies, techniques, or design methodologies to improve building services system performance and efficiency. Good planning, organizational, and communication skills are necessary for success in this position. Implementation of quality procedures to ensure a good design deliverable. Comprehensive leadership skills and previous experience in managing large-scale projects. Solid communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for collaborating with clients, architects, project managers, and other stakeholders throughout the design process. Candidate to show out-of-the-box thinking to identify any opportunities for automation or innovation. Good understanding of energy efficiency, sustainability, indoor quality, and acoustics. Knowledge of BREEM, LEED, and other certifying organizations is appreciated.

Master's degree in Building Services Engineering. Expertise in energy efficiency and sustainability is appreciated. Highly knowledgeable of BREEM, LEED, and other certifying organizations is appreciated. Affiliation to professional organizations. Experience using Autodesk Revit
