Mechanical Design Engineer II

You will collaborate with customers and broader
engineering teams to develop, set up, test, and analyze key areas of sensor products.
Honeywell's Switch solutions help customers worldwide in research and development, design, quality testing,
manufacturing, and system monitoring in many different industries, challenging applications, and rugged
environments.

The position will join the global Switch R&D team working closely with engineering, sourcing, and
the factory organizations to drive engineering and process excellence. You will be responsible to assist the team
through engineering activities to maintain the portfolio of legacy products, work closely with the factory to
understand gaps within manufacturing to provide support, and drive and deliver productivity (VE/CE) within Switch.
You will also interact with internal and external customers to facilitate the completion of products to customer
specifications.

Key Responsibilities
• Work as design engineer with design responsibilities of switch and sensor design and product development.
• Build and test development units, analyze results and create reports
• Maintain technical document packages to support product validation
• Perform validation tests of prototype products and troubleshooting to component level utilizing schematics and
test equipment
• Develop statistical stack-ups and transfer functions to ensure performance requirements are met
• Define and identify source-controlled and vendor-item components and work with suppliers to optimize
performance and cost
• Align with application engineering and offering management, building industry knowledge, and proposing
innovative solutions to customer challenges
• Perform tear-down analysis and identify root cause and corrective actions for product failures
• Become the technical expert and provide support to factory, engineering, customers, and suppliers
• Determine technical feasibility of VE opportunities, write specifications, and provide project and product cost
estimation
• Launch and independently manage smaller projects with limited support
• Hybrid schedule (3 in office 2 work from home

YOU MUST HAVE

 
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in engineering
• Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in Engineering
• Willingness to work in a manufacturing environment

WE VALUE

• Relevant design experience/ product development experience
• Experience with test equipment and working in a test lab environment
• Good knowledge of various manufacturing protocols such as six sigma
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to statistically analyze product data with tools like Excel and Minitab.
• Strong Mechanical Engineering background/experience
• Understanding of Honeywell drawings and be able to talk through tech requirement with
customers and suppliers
• Proficient with MS Office (Word and Excel)
• Individuals who are self-motivated and able to work with little supervision, who consistently take
the initiative to get things done
• Ability to influence cross-functional teams and Honeywell suppliers to deliver optimal solutions to
complex technical challenges
• Ability to consistently make timely decisions and balancing systematic analysis with decisiveness
in an ambiguous environment
• Understanding of basic export regulations
• Ability to drive execution of organizational objectives within the Honeywell technical community
through effective communication, collaboration, and leadership
