Work as a lead member of a multi-disciplinary product development team to assess customer needs, generate concepts, create requirements, design, test and support the transition of electromechanical and robotics based devices and systems from development to manufacturing and then the field.
Responsibilities
Guide product and technology decisions for our electromechanical and robotics based productsPrimary contributor on multi-disciplinary technical teams in developing and evaluating solutions to complex multi-product level problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factorsAct as primary consultant on large projects that effect the organizations long-term goals and objectivesLead feasibility studies of new and modified designs exercising judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteriaProvides static, dynamic design, and analysis of complex mechanical systems including design reviews with a focus on DFM and serviceabilityLead the execution of failure modes and effect analysis (FMEA) of system level and sub-system level designs to identify high risk areas to improve designsLead root cause analysis efforts and defining creative and effective corrective actionsProvide leadership role at a system/subassembly project level by assigning work and resolving problems as well as mentoring engineering team members as requiredTravel to domestic and international off-site locations as necessary to directly support customers, evaluate field issues as well as support start up activities for new productsEstimate, manage, and report time required for multiple, concurrent tasksDevelop quarterly goals
Required Knowledge and Skills
Demonstrated ability to practically apply systems engineering frameworks and best practices to product developmentAdvanced knowledge of medical related technologies, products, markets, customers and business fundamentalsProficient with designing complex electromechanical and robotics subassemblies and systems within a 3D design/modeling environment within a formal product development processStrong working knowledge of DFM including familiarity with GD&T and dimensional engineering skillsAble to effectively solve problems, work independently on sub-assemblies and multi-task as required.Good interpersonal and communication skillsSelf-starter, capable of working independently as well as building strong cross functional collaborative relationships.Must be able to work in a team environment and assist cross functional teams with the debugging of complex issues.The candidate must be highly motivated to work in a fast-paced environment.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite of Products.
Basic Qualifications
EducationBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred12+ years of Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering experience with a degree; 16+ years of Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering experience in lieu of a degreeExperience designing electromechanical and robotics subassemblies and systemsDesign of injection molding, sheetmetal, and machining componentsExperience with 3D design/modelingExperience with using DFSS methodologies during the design, validation and launch of products.Experience with Bill of Materials, MRP systems and the ECR, ECO processesExperience with project lead role
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of SolidWorks experienceExperience with LabView, AutoCad, ProEExperience in a supervisory role

Base Compensation: $136165 to $194521
