We seek an experienced Mechanical Designer to support the design and development of the Space Station and other programs. This role involves developing requirements, design criteria, and technical analyses while ensuring manufacturability (DFM). Key responsibilities include creating engineering models and drawings for test, ground support, and flight hardware, conducting design evaluations, and preparing technical documentation. The designer will also present designs for review. **DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES** + Support the design and development efforts for the Space Station and other programs as needed + Assist in developing requirements and design criteria + Design, develop, test, handle implementation, and provide analysis of technical products and systems + Perform design evaluations on engineering solutions considering DFM + Produce engineering models and drawings for the manufacturing of test/ground support equipment and flight hardware + Prepare and help present designs at various design reviews + Produce other required design documentation + Able to travel locally between facilities + Perform other duties as assigned **QUALIFICATIONS:** To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. **Education & Experience** + Associate’s degree in engineering or related, similar, field required + BS degree in Engineering or similar field is preferred + Minimum 5 years’ experience creating manufacturing drawings with ASME Y14 standards + Minimum 5 years’ using 3D CAD for model and drawing creation (SolidWorks preferred) + Experience creating engineering drawings and dimensioning and tolerancing per ASME Y-14 + Experience with PDM software such as SolidWorks Product Data Management (PDM) or similar + Spaceflight hardware design background preferred + Experience with Atlassian suite preferred + Machining and fitting experience preferred + Design for Manufacturing experience preferred **Skills** + Excellent interpersonal skill + Excellent communication skill, verbal and written + Excellent organizational skills + Result oriented personality with a creative approach to problem solving + Ability to work in a team environment + Self-motivated **WORK ENVIRONMENT:** + Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task **Requirements** + Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation + Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised + Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position **Physical Requirements** + Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time) + May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs.
