Mechanical Designer

Fortinet is looking for a Mechanical Designer to join our team at the Burnaby Office!

 

Responsibilities:

Mechanical design for networking/telecom products that require out-of-the box thinking Create detailed component and assembly drawings and specs; prepare detailed BOMs, ECN and variation notices. Working with CM and vendors in designing and sourcing key components that often push the limits of fabrication and availability. Identifying problems/risk areas and recommending corrective actions/solutions early in the design/manufacturing process. Design, build and plan experiments to resolve problems and de-risk such areas. Review, test, and iterate designs through prototypes to improve the design and quality of Fortinet products Timely generate detailed review, analysis, investigation reports and proposals. Drive cost reduction on mechanical designs, systems and components.

 

Requirements:

3+ years of experience using 2D Cad and 3D Solidworks Must have strong analytical and problem solving skills. Have strong knowledge of physics fundamentals Be able to handle multiple projects at the same time while having a clear understanding of the urgency and deadlines. Willingness to work hands-on with prototyping, experimenting, testing and analyzing designs Have a strong sense of ownership and responsibility to projects and have strong decision making skills. Team player, work closely with other teams and departments. Excellent oral and written communication skills Sheetmetal design and manufacturing experience a plus Experience in an electronics-manufacturing environment is a plus Networking/telecom product development experience is a plus

 

Educational Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent and relevant work experience

 

The Canada base salary range for this full-time position is expected to be between $70,000- $100,000 annually.  Wage ranges are based on various factors including the labour market, job type, and job level.  Exact salary offers will be determined by factors such as the candidate’s subject knowledge, skill level, qualifications, and experience.
