The Role
As a Mechanical Designer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll provide support to EDF to enhance lifetime of power station and represent Cavendish Nuclear.

 

Day-to-day, you’ll provide office support within station drawing office.  Including creating and amending station drawings as per engineer requirements.
Role is part of Cavendish Nuclear site team at Torness Power Station working for the Site Manager albeit embedded within the client (EDF) organisation where the individual will report day to day to the client.

 

Prepare & produce drawings throughout design lifecycle and in line with recognised ISO standards to the required; time, cost and quality requirements. Promote effective co-operation across Design and other functional teams. Prepare, produce and maintain project documentation as required by the design lifecycle, produce and update ‘as built’ /datum pack documentation. Liaise with colleagues and stakeholders during design lifecycle to ensure coordination and functionality of design, including contribution to design reviews.  Develop innovative design solutions and solutions to manufacturing and installation issues by assisting in the resolution of Production and Technical Querie.

 

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and is based on site at Torness Power Station, East Lothian. 

 

Essential Experience of the Mechanical Designer

Experience with AutoCAD (more than 2 years). Knowledge of Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools. Knowledge of General Engineering Drawing Practice.  Incorporated Engineer status.  Integrated Competency Framework (ICF) to be demonstrated or being worked towards.  Communications skills and the ability to interface with other disciplines.

 

Qualifications for the Mechanical Designer

ONC/HNC/HND (or equivalent) OR BTEC National Certificate/Diploma (or equivalent) OR appropriate apprenticeship of specialisation.
 

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) security clearance for this role.
