Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the layout, design, and documentation of complex designs and assemblies using CAD equipment. This role involves assisting engineers with design changes, overseeing the work of designers and drafters, and developing best practices for CAD modeling and drawing creation.
ResponsibilitiesComplete layout, design, and documentation of complex designs and assemblies utilizing CAD equipment.Assist engineers with design changes and manufacturability, exercising independent discretion.Assign, track, and review the work of designers and drafters; provide on-the-job training as needed.Develop and use best practices for CAD modeling, drawing creation, and methods to convey technical information to manufacturing and suppliers; enforce documentation and quality standards.Communicate and work with supervisors, peers, and subordinates.Manage one's own time and the time of others for efficient completion of projects.Motivate, develop, and direct designers and drafters as they work, identifying the best individuals for the job.Prepare engineering designs using appropriate calculations, and convert them into a technical documentation package.Monitor the status and compliance of the project and keep all participants informed.Essential SkillsMechanical design and draftingProficiency in ProE/Creo and SolidWorks3D modelingTwo-year degree in engineering or design0-2 years of experience in mechanical design utilizing ProE/Creo, SolidWorks, or CADStrong oral and written communication skillsSolid understanding of engineering practices such as form, fit, and function; rules of interchangeability; and tolerance stack-up analysisAdditional Skills & QualificationsExperience maintaining operational records and reporting performance problemsAbility to confer with other personnel to resolve design or operational problemsDeveloping technical methods or processesDesigning basic circuitry and drafting sketches for clarification of details under engineers' directionBuilding prototypes from rough sketches or plansWork Environment
Under the direction of a Senior Staff Mechanical Engineer, the employee takes the lead on completing complex design projects. The work requires frequent and prolonged computer use within an office setting and occasional lifting up to 25 pounds. The role may require occasional overnight travel. Dexterity with mechanical tools is necessary for hands-on inspection and assembly of the first of each unit type designed by the applicant.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $33.00/hr.
